Work really well and small enough to carry
This help when I have a meeting outside and help recap of what I wrote down. The function is simple and the app is easy to use. However if you record in English and have it transcribeb in other languages (like Thai), it is not accurately translated yet. So I just use English for now. I hope the AI translation will get better in the future. It give you 300 mins every month with the purchase which is good value. If you need more recording you have an option to buy the cloud space. The sound is clear. It is small enough to carry around without being too obvious and look sturdy.

Great concept, but are standalone AI products the right solution?
This product combines well-designed hardware, intuitive software, and impressive functionalityâbut in practice, it performs more awkwardly and less effectively than my iPhone paired with ChatGPT. On top of that, it adds the hassle of managing an extra device to pair, charge, and keep track of. While I love the idea behind it, I didnât love the execution.The hardware is thoughtfully designedâlightweight, attractive, and comfortable to use. Pairing it with the app is simple, and the appâs interface is user-friendly. However, itâs not as seamless as recording directly on a smartphone. Files need to be downloaded, which adds unnecessary steps and takes up timeâthis is where the experience starts to feel cumbersome.I bought this device to record meetings, planning to either place it in my shirt pocket or on the table. Its compact size and shape seemed perfect for the job. Unfortunately, in real-world use, particularly at events or trade shows with significant background noise, the device struggled. It failed to capture clear audio in those environments, and the software often couldnât reliably differentiate or label speakersâtwo features that were essential for my needs. Ultimately, this led me to return the device.Interestingly, the PLAUD software performed better when paired with my phoneâs built-in microphone, which captured audio more effectively than the device itself. Even then, ChatGPTâs Whisper outperformed PLAUD in recognizing speakers and processing audio.The bigger issue is the competition this device faces. With AI tools like ChatGPT paired with smartphones, you can already achieve similar (if not better) results, often with more convenience and flexibility. Smartphones and AI solutions can also evolve quickly with updates, whereas dedicated devices are slower to adapt, which puts them at a disadvantage.I really admire companies that push boundaries with innovative AI products, and this device shows potential. However, AI is advancing so quickly that itâs difficult for smaller, specialized devices like this to stay competitive. For now, I havenât found a product in this category that truly stands out.

This is an excellent item. I have been using a few months and the voice recording is superb. Simple to use and been really clear. The genius of the device is with its AI features using the Plaud AI app you can convert your voice recording into different forms from a transcript to even a really accurate summary of notes thatâs excellent for staff meetings. The app does have a subscription model for extra minutes (you get allocated so many per month on the free plan) and I havenât really gone over the free amount. However, it is something to consider.
