   Needed Zero Down Shoes
   I’ve been a runner and hiker most of my life but my feet are shot. I’m taking drastic measures to correct problems without having surgery or injections. Going to zero down shoes with a wide natural toe is not the drastic part, it’s the easy part. I’m also transitioning to bare foot shoes when I’m not at work. This is going to take a while to undo what I’ve done but so far it seems to be helping. Most people take this journey way too fast so I’m taking people’s advice and going slow.These are my first Altras after researching many brands and I like them. Very comfortable. The cushion is good yet not squishy like Hoka, but most of all it’s a zero down shoe with plenty of room for my toes to move. Hopefully I can reverse my Morton’s Neuroma and abductor digili minimi pain. If your feet hurt then life can be tough. The heel is more snug then I expected (I have very thin feet with no fat) so be warmed.I would have preferred to have gotten the all black but it was $52 more than the black and gray. Couldn’t justify it. I did find this color on sale so make sure if you’re not picky on what color you need that you look at the different versions. These shoes are not cheap so even $109 in this economy is quite a bit. Eventually I’ll be using these for mountain hikes but for a while I’ll be using these at work simply as a good pair of shoes. They might look a little funny to some because of the larger toe box but frankly I could care less what people think. At least I can see my feet.Made of good quality materials and even though it doesn’t look like it it’s quite a light shoe.Definitely worth trying. If these are your first is zero down shoes then take it easy at first. If you’re using them to eventually transfer over to barefoot shoes, take it easy, this is not a race.Go up half or a whole size on these. They run small.

   Great shoe good support no insole needed
   Have been wearing Altra shoes about a year and a half. Walk/hike in a canyon 10 miles a day with 2,000 plus feet of total elevation gain. These shoes are great and I don’t need an expensive insole like I did with the Lone Peak 6. The wide toe box is good no need for an extra wide shoe to make toes comfortable like when wearing Asics. There is a lot of cushion in the sole for long hikes and the soles last longer for my hiking and daily wear. Shoe strings can be a bit too short if all holes are used- try litlaces or other comparable slightly longer and more flexible laces. If soles peel after lots of wear use thin loctite superglue as recommended by fleet feet salesperson (he said it happens with all brands)Normally wear size 13 and 13 fits me well in this shoe.

   Super comfortable.
   These shoes have a nice wide toe box to keep your toes from rubbing against each other. They required no break-in period. They were perfect coming out of the box. Good cushioning and great (blue) styling!

   ALTRA has changed, nothing special about them now.
   Altra used to be a fantastic shoe for those that wanted the ultimate in wide toe-box and comfort. Sad to say, they have changed for the worse and never let anyone know. Not only are their shoes now made with inferior materials (just read the plethora of reviews about their shoes falling apart) but they changed the last used for their shoes. These are the same size, 10.5, yet they are 1/2 inch narrower. Nothing on their website says they made this change. The included shoelaces are barely long enough to tie. They are a joke. No wonder their shoes can be found here for half price. They are providing half the shoe they used to. So sad, as I bought four pair the last time. Not even going to keep one now.

   Like them enough to buy them again – but shoelaces are horrible
   Toe box is nice and wide without the whole shoe being clown like.Would buy again. Comfortable.*Edit – I had to take a star off because of the dang shoelaces. This is the second pair that I’ve purchased and both have had shoelaces that A) are too short and B) act like they’re lubricated because keeping them tied is a real struggle. I believe I’m decent at making a typical bow with shoelaces but these stinking worthless piecers just don’t want to stay tied. Maybe I need to find a different set and replace them.

   My favorite sneakers
   Altra in general, if youve never owned a pair, are now by far my favorite shoe brand and pretty much all I wear. Wide toe box and natural flat sole really make a difference compared to traditional sneakers to the point that I feel like im wearing womens pointed toe high heels in any otber sneaker. The Olympus in particular are more sturdy than the other models and for me have been the most comfortable. Compared to the others they offer more structure which you may or may not prefer, and this also requires a few days of breaking in. I have two pairs, one for hiking/trail running which have helf up for 2 years with minimal wear, and another pair for the hospital when Im working on my feet all day/night.

   Great on trail
   Altra does it again! I used to run in the Altra Superior, I felt like it was time for more padding, these were the perfect solution. They feel very responsive despite the thicker sole. Took a lot of stress off my ankles, hips, and knees. Awesome traction on our loose gravel trails. The uppers do not pinch like other brands. Fit my feet perfectly. I could see these being a great option for backpacking or hiking as well.

   Great shoe, but arrived used
   This is the third pair of Olympus 5 shoes I’ve gotten. Love the fit, although some of the materials are a bit flimsy. Still have gotten many miles on these shoes in the past and overall am happy. Giving only 3 stars here as the shoes bought through Altra’s shop on Amazon came used (see photos). Amazon directs you to Altra to address the issue, but when I called Altra they kicked me back to Amazon and said it wasn’t their issue. I may end up keeping the shoes so they won’t go into the landfill but disappointed that the Altra rep made no offer to try and remedy the situation.

   Love this particular pair of ALTRA’s.Using mainly for late winter walking. I even wear orthotics with these and they work very well for me.I have been wearing them for 2 weeks now, no complaints. DEFINITELY an outside shoe. Bottom of shoe not recommended for the GYM Environment. There are other shoes you can purchase from ALTRA for the GYM. BTW, I am in Canada. ALTRA is a USA Product. You will either have to purchase on AMAZON or some outfitting places wherever they are located. ALTRA USA does NOT deliver to CANADA “yet”.

    Gute Verarbeitung und Passform mit breiter Zehenbox. VIBRAM-Sohle mit sehr gutem Grip. Leichtgewichtiger Schuh, den ich gerne für mehrstündige Wanderungen mit meinem Hund bei trockenen Bedingungen nutze. Keine Blasen oder Druckstellen. Ich bin von dem Schuh begeistert.
