The perfect hiking shoe! Not so much for the Lone peak 8âs though.
I never knew how much I needed a wide toe box in my shoes until I started wearing the Altra Lone Peaks. Now, I canât find true comfort in any other shoe! Iâve tried wide shoes in the past. In fact, my hiking boots are wide. But the problem with wide shoes is that the whole shoe is wider than regular shoes, not just the toe box. But my foot is only wide around the ball of my foot. My mid-foot and heel areas are not wide. So wide shoes always feel big on me. I never realized how much regular shoes squeeze the ball of my foot, and become uncomfortable after a while. Now I notice it in every shoe. These shoes are not like typical wide shoes, as these are only wide in the toe box. I guess, according to shoe manufacturers, Iâm abnormal, since no one else makes shoes with such a wide toe box. Even other styles of Altra do not compare to the Lone Peaks, which have Altraâs widest toe box. The Lone Peaks are the most comfortable shoes Iâve ever put on my feet, not only for the ball area of my foot, but I also love having plenty of room for my toes to spread out while hiking. I can actually feel my toes working to grip the uneven trail surface, which I wasnât sure at first that I liked, because I actually felt like my foot muscles were getting a work-out . . . A new sensation for me. But after hiking in Lone Peaks for several years now, I absolutely love it! I feel like my feet are stronger! Who knew?! Anyway, I do have to mention that I have two pairs of the Lone Peak 6âs, and one pair of the Lone Peak 7âs. I tried on a pair of the Lone Peak 8âs, and was a little disappointed, because the sole of the shoe was not as squishy and comfortable as the 6âs and 7âs. Turns out, they added a rock plate into the soles of the 8âs, which makes them not as comfortable as the 6âs and 7âs. I donât know why manufacturers always feel like they have to fix what isnât broken, and in the process, they mess up a good thing. I will still probably end up buying a pair of the 8âs though, just because I love the wide toe box that much.

Great all-around shoe
I needed a shoe that I could wear out and about and also could go into the woods and hike a nice trail. I’m a bit of an overpacker, so having a shoe that would serve multiple purposes for me really helps reduce what I’m carrying. I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this shoe, and overall, it was rated quite well. My expectations were fairly high, and this shoe truly knocked it out of the park. First, they’re incredibly lightweight, which is important for both usage and packing. They’re attractive looking and match most casual outfits. I wear a size 8, and ordered a size 8. Perfect fit. The toe box is spacious and the shoe fits perfectly. The light grey is a nice, simple look, but I do worry about how easy they’ll be to clean. They’ve been pretty good at fending off dirt, even as I tromped through the woods after a rain. I need ankle support on most hikes, so I likely won’t wear these on my longer or more difficult hikes, but for an easy hike, I’ll definitely choose them. Don’t get me wrong, if I didn’t need ankle support, I’d wear them for all hikes, but I’m far too clumsy not to have mid-height boots at the least. The tread is impressive, and I definitely believe they’ll be great for any type of walking I choose to wear them for. I have flat feet, so I sometimes struggle with shoes, but these are the right amount of support. My feet haven’t hurt once since wearing them. I’ve even started using them on my walking pad at home. They aren’t waterproof, so I’ll have to keep that in mind for rainy days. But if you’re looking for a light-weight trail running shoe, this could be a great choice for you!

Have NEVER been crazier for a shoe before!
These are my third try at an foot shaped shoe… I absolutely LOVE them! My first pair of wide toe shoes had me hooked on the idea. Unfortunately they didn’t last long. They began falling apart after a few months :(The toe box was just wide enough to where my little toes weren’t crammed, but i still loved them more than any other shoe I tried before…These Altra Lone Peaks are SO MUCH BETTER. The toe box is much wider than my last brand. They’re super comfortable. No breaking in needed. They have the perfect amount of support and hold my heel in nicely. I love how they feel when going a couple of miles of the trails. Great grip, no rubbing, decently breathable, and my toes have room roam lol.I’m an 8.5 and the 8.5 fit perfect. I have a pretty narrow heel and a much wider toe area. After 32 years of wearing the wrong kind of shoe my little toes had become very curved and smooshed into the next toe. I’ve noticed my next smallest toe has started becoming more bent and that’s when I realized I NEEDED something else. Instead of just settling for whatever was “OK”. Thankfully these were on sale but unfortunately… I’m HOOKED! I certainly recommend and will most definitely buy again.Thank you Altra for making a shoe for us wide toed and narrow heeled ladies 🙂

Truly, a good sneaker and great for your feet
These are the cutest and most comfortable sneakers. I can use in the weight room or running that are also good for not scrunching your toes.!

Wide toe box!
I love these shoes because of the wide toe box. No adjustment/ break in period for a beginner/ starting back up runner(10-15 miles a week). No blisters no pain. The laces are a bit short, but not too short ( I normally wear a wide shoe and have a high arch as well) I like the way the toes are roomy but the rest of the shoe stays snug on my foot preventing blisters. Itâs far superior to trying to run in a pair of standard âwideâ sneakers.

Pretty solid trail shoe!
I’ve had a few pairs of Altras and wanted to try them again now that I’ve been doing a lot more jogging and hiking. I feel like they run just slightly big, I’m usually a size 10 women’s (41 eu) and I love how the 9.5s fit in these! My toes do not hit the end and have plenty of wiggle room. So far they have held up amazingly with moderate use. The soles are extremely comfortable but not too supportive if that makes any sense, I typically don’t like more supportive brands like brooks because I feel like there’s too much bulk between my feet and the ground. I also love the treads on the bottom, they’re amazing for steep trails and snowy roads.

Packaging was a little banged up and box was broken but the shoe looked like new and the right size!

I ordered these after wearing Vivos for a while. These are really comfortable – more so than my Vivo Trail FGs. Sizing is accurate, I normally wear a 9 just to get the additional width or I wear a men’s 7 for the same reason. Women’s 9 is perfect, lots of width and toe room.

I wear nothing but Altra shoes. They have a nice wide toe bed so my toes donât get squished and my bunion doesnât rub. I love the colour of these ones the most of any I have previously purchased.

Me encantan.
