Quality tool that is RIGHT for the job!
OK, my cargo bike got damaged by a flood during the last hurricane and I had to buy numerous parts to “fix it”. This is a very expensive bike that I was able to save, but most of my tools were lost in the flood too! To fix this cargo bike I needed to also buy some “specialty” tools to do it right.Years ago, I “pimped out” a beach cruiser I had and one of the things I did was replace the crank and pedals. However, it came with some pretty good pedals “stock” but I got “really good” pedals to replace them. Now I figured I could just attach the pedals with a “wrench” I had as I had A LOT of tools at the time! Nope. Trying to get the pedals off the old crank resulted in my marring up the “old crank” which I wasn’t saving very badly! I knew I didn’t want to ruin the new “expensive crank or pedals” so I bought a wrench like this product and used it ONCE personally. (I lent it out to friends and never got it back, but would have lost it in the hurricane anyways!)I knew from that experience that you CANNOT use a “regular” wrench to remove or replace pedals on a bike you actually CARE ABOUT! This is definitely one of those, you “need the right tool for the job”….tools! This wrench has a very nice “heft” to it and works flawlessly. Now, because this tool is THE RIGHT TOOL FOR THE JOB, I was able to remove the VERY NICE and expensive pedals on my cargo bike without damaging the expensive crank! I was able to CLEAN the “damage” to the crank once the pedals were off and also was able to clean the pedals very well also. However, I had already purchased new pedals for the cargo bike, so I was able to shift these pedals I “saved” to another bike. (ALL hurricane damage easily removed once they were off the crank!)I was able to put the new pedals on my cargo bike without putting…or even risking a scratch to the pedals or the crank with this tool! The machining of this tool is top notch as there was no “slippage” and it fit tight to the pedal nut and provided solid “purchase” for easy removal, even with some “rust and debris” in the threads due to the hurricane flood damage!Even if I never use this again it has Paid for itself.as it is under $11 at the time of review. (VERY fair price IMO.) Honestly it is worth it in the time saved alone….I remember the hassle I had using my “on hand tools” at first years ago and spent way too much time AND trashed a crank shaft doing it!If you are changing out pedals on a single bike, you STILL need this tool…believe me! At this price buy it and you won’t be sorry.

Flat Handle Pedal Wrench: Compact, Comfortable, and Effective
I opted for the flat handle bike pedal wrench because it would take up a little less space/not interfere with the bike frame but not compromise on having a padded handle. The rubber handle being on the end of the wrench provides a comfortable grip and cushions my hand when applying pressure. The overall construction feels solid and well-made. The length provides excellent leverage (for installing at least, will find about removal soon).I needed a pedal wrench because I had a pedal crack and break on my mountain bike. I was able to replace the cracked one without a pedal wrench, by using a regular wrench, only because of the extra space given to me with the pedal being cracked. When I went to replace the non-cracked pedal, I wasnât able to access it with a regular wrench to get it loose. This is when I learned that there is no substitute to having a pedal wrench. Before I received this wrench, I also received an eBike as gift, and had to assemble it. I used the pedal wrench for assembly of the ebike instead of the small wrenches provided. The extra leverage provided by the length and the rubber around the handle made it so much easier to tighten the pedals while assembling.Iâve yet to use the wrench to replace the other pedal on the mountain bike, Iâm really confident this wrench will make that task easier and quicker. I canât speak to how snugly the wrench will fit on the mountain bike yet, but it was a good snug fit for the eBike.Because this isnât a tool that I foresee myself using frequently, I wanted something around $10 that would get the job done, but be sturdy enough and functional enough I never had to buy another similar tool. At the time of my review, itâs priced at $10.99.

Economic choice for pedal wrench
Not sure how much I can say about this product. It is a pedal wrench and it does what it does, which is putting on and taking off pedals. 3 things I particularly like:1. Originally I was trying to decide between the flat handle vs. round handle, thinking the flat handle might put edge pressure into my palm, but that turn out to be a non-issue. The rubber grip is also pretty comfortable in the hand while using.2. I kind of like it also included extra bolt wrench of some standard size bolts typically used on bicycles so that I only need one tool in hand at a time when putting on and removing pedals and tires.3. It is decidingly cheaper than “that” name brand while offering exact same basic function.

All You Need for Half the Price of the Name Brand Wrench
Iâve wanted a pedal wrench for a long time, but the one from PT just seemed expensive for the few times I actually remove/change my pedals. But when I saw this one at half the price of the PT one, I decided to give it a try. I chose the one with the round handle. I was a little concerned that it might not fit into the channel like the flat one, but it worked fine. The length gives you the torque you need to remove most pedals. My local bike shop would charge me at least double the price of this pedal wrench to remove my pedals even one time. So, itâs a bargain investment at this price. I donât remove my pedals often, but sometimes they make an annoying noise and need some TLC. This wrench will allow me to do that. The rubber handle on the round wrench gives you the perfect grip you need to remove a stubborn pedal.
