The Black Diamond Astro 300 is a simple and reduced version of its older sisters Cosmo and Spot, but still offers many features for its size. Duel power means that while supplied with AAA batteries, it is also compatible with Black Diamond BD 1500 lithium-ion batteries.
Brightness Memory allows you to turn the headlamp on and off at last used brightness level without reverting to max brightness
Settings include full strength, dimming and strobe
Digital lock mode feature safeguards against accidental use when stored in a pack or pocket

Itâs an excellent light, itâs bright for the size and seems to be reasonably effective and efficient. Light, small form factor. I wish it had more preset modes but for $20 it does everything I need!

Simple and effective
Purchased this headlamp for commercial electrical work. The intensity is more than enough with the Hi setting. The ability to dim the light for less intensity is a nice feature I havenât seen mentioned in other comments. Hold the power button when light is on and watch the intensity dim to a more desirable level. Havenât tested run time but with 3 AAA batteries, I expect to get 2-3hrs of continuous light on HIGH

I have several of these now. I started with its fancier sibling for much more money with much more settings. Forget that, buy this cheaper one. Click on, two settings for brightness and off. Nice tight headband, nothing fancy. Mechanism to tilt down the light for aiming. Perfect light, great price. BUY.

Great for morning runs and walks. Easy to adjust brightness and comfortable strap, which is also easy to adjust. Light to carry once the sun rises. For the price, you canât beat it! Came with batteries and after watching a quick youtube tutorial I was ready to go in minutes.

Letâs start with the pros:-This light is very bright. Bright enough to cover any situation that calls for a headlamp.-The strap can be removed and the light can be attached to anything like a belt, shirt, or backpack strap if you need to.The only con would be the strap is a little difficult to adjust. Could be that Iâm just doing something incorrectly. This is a negligible con.Overall, I would recommend this headlamp to anyone looking for something bright and reliable with multiple ways to mount.

Simple, easy, and bright!
I really like this headlamp. Straightforward and simple, and nice and bright! The only thing I would recommend for improvement would be that I wish it would pivot a bit further. It has a fairly small range of pivot, and I am unable to point the light down when wearing it. Sometimes I like to use my headlamp basically pointing at my feet for doing tasks around camp, and with this I have to physically look down for everything. Otherwise I am very happy with the quality and performance of this unit!

Simple to use, no multiple setting to fumble with
Easy to uses, basically on or off with two possible brightness settings. No flashing lights, no strobe effects, no red lights, no automated on/off. A flashlight for your head. Bright enough for work or walking, will not light up the Grand Canyon. The back is a little difficult to get off for changing the battery, but it does pop off.

I’ve only had it for a week, so can’t speak to its longevity, but it’s solidly made, and the various brightness settings are excellent for illuminating when I need it but not blinding everyone in the neighbourhood. Very happy with it.
