Not just a gimmick for kids.
These lights are marketed to a younger audience with the prospects of adding that dope early 2000’s custom import scene underglow lighting to their bicycle, increasing their visibility, safety, and aesthetic appeal. However, even if you’re a jaded adult cyclist, there’s more than meets the eye and there may be something in it for you.If you have a cargo rack on your bicycle, this is the perfect taillight. Mounts easily and securely to the rear with two zip ties, and lasts long enough for multiple night rides. Stuff two AAA’s in a Ziploc bag, put it in your pannier bag, and enjoy the piece of mind that you can quickly swap them out without tools should the light start to die out on you.Lighting options include solid light and three flashing modes of increasing frequency. The LEDs shine bright, and in a horizontal position facing directly behind, is nearly impossible to miss in the dark.I’ve had a handful of these lights since middle school, and the first few did succumb to corrosion after lots of use and sitting exposed to the winter elements. However, the two I have now (the oldest being a few years old) still work fine despite exposure to the elements. I highly recommend installing with the battery cover facing down so as to drain any water that enters. This makes replacing batteries a little more cumbersome, but it’s still very easy and quick to do on the side of the road, and the batteries last surprisingly long for only two AAAs so unless you do consistent riding in dark/inclement conditions, you shouldn’t have to replace them too often. I’ve had the same batteries in mine for a few months, and they still shine bright after some hours of night riding.Even if I had to replace the whole unit every year, it would be well worth the ~$12 for the utility, ease of installation and use, cheap price, reliability, battery life, and visibility. Brightz is making a mistake by not marketing their red bar light to commuters and bikepackers considering how perfectly this fits on a rack.

Bright, but blocky. Worth $10 if it shipped for free.
Pro:Bright for the priceSimple modes of operationNice switchConBetter suited to accent lightingNot really waterproofDifficult to install batteries.I bought the red version to use as a taillight on my bicycle. I have to admit, it is very bright, has one solid mode and three flashing modes. I hate lights that force you to scroll through 10 different modes to shut it off, so only 4 is a welcome change. The on/off switch has a nice rubber cover, which would make it seem water resistant, but the battery cover is a simple slide that doesn’t look like it seals well. The battery cover is hard to slide open and shut because it seems to be poorly molded. I have to recharge my batteries every two weeks, using it for 30 minutes a day. The batteries require a tool like a flathead screwdriver to remove from the compartment.Installation would be simple as an accent light, just strap on with the provided zip ties. But, I wanted to mount it facing directly rearward, and my bike had very few perfectly vertical or horizontal tubes. Any way I tried to mount it, it would have been at an upward or downward angle, thus not as bright to cars. I finally ended up using two additional zip ties to mount it horizontally to my pannier rack.Overall, a nice light for $10, but since it isn’t sold by Amazon, I had to pay $15 (shipped) for one, and I am unsure if it is worth that.

Great for night rides!
Got this to add extra light to my rides at night. Itâs not the brightest, but I think itâs enough to be noticed! Iâve seen reviews that say to use zip ties and I would agree (though I didnât need to) because the straps are not super long and every bike is different.

Cheap lights, do what they have to
These lights are cheap, and what I like is that they are not rechargeable. That might sound weird but I prefer to have my own set of either AA or AAA rechargeable batteries and charge them on my own; that way I can just put new batteries (precharged) and instantly continue using the product. However these are not very bright lights, of course. Powerful bike lights are not cheap, but these are good for the bling, goof around with friends and have fun.I would not recommend them to use in a commuting scenario, not very bright for that.

Bright and worth the purchase
I put it on my E-bike and it lights up the space below me and can be easily seen at night for the other drivers on the road.

To anyone complaining that these aren’t that bright, please check your batteries to see if they’re 1.5v batteries. I’ve tried using both fresh 1.0v and 1.5v as an experiment and it’s so much brighter. Don’t cheap out on your batteries and it will light up your road!

The lights were very bright. And the product is of extremely good quality .The lights don’t stand bright for long so it’s important to buy new batteries every other day to maintain the brightness
