Great for quick labeling
Brother has been making printing tools of all kinds for decades, and are what I have always considered to be one of the “premier” brands in label makers. They have tons of different options out there, so there is almost assuredly going to be one that fits your needs. This unit, while large, has TONS of options without going crazy. The easy-to-use keyboard lets you type out any message or number system you want. There are buttons above the keyboard to switch text sizes, text types such as bold, italic, shadow, or even vertical text. You can use outlines or borders or even add pictographs (emojis) to your label from the pre-selected options. This unit comes with one starter cartridge of “Btag” labels from Brother with blue ink in a 12mm, 0.47″ label size. There are definitely third party cartridges out there, and this label maker doesn’t appear to use microchips on their cartridges to determine if you are using “official” cartridges or not which is a major plus. This does require six (!!!) AAA batteries to get going, and are not included, so make sure you’ve stocked up on those.Overall, this is a really nice label maker. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of some of the new ones like mobile phone connectivity, but it’s perfect for simple label making. High quality printing, easy to use…this is exactly what you want in a label maker!

Not as good as the PT-2040 but I like it!
I like that this machine is a little smaller than the P-Touch 2040 which I own two of because I love so much. This one operates similar to the PT-2040 with a few differences. The overall customizability is greater on this model. I feel like I can easily change up what I am doing on it. I like the font options. It is simple and effective. I think the price point is great for the quality of product you are recieving.

simply the best label maker I have used and beats my DYMO
Brother never lets me down and this is no exception. Very inexpensive and can do far more than my DYMO that not only costs more but is harder to use and has more expensive refills. I love the full keyboard and more room to type than the really condensed versions out there. The ribbons available let me really customize the labels I need to stand out for work, and they look and stick great. I would never go back to my DYMO after using this one.

Great printer
I was honestly a little surprised by how big this thing is. Look for pictures or videos on other reviews here if space is at a premium for you. That being said, this thing is pretty great! At my workplace we have a similar but older model label maker, and this is just as easy to use. The border and emoji/pictography options aren’t quite something I think I’ll make much use of, but it’s nice to have the option. I’ll have to find more things to label around the house, and check out other label color options 🙂

Awesome label maker!
I own a very old version of this same Brother P-Touch label maker…like from 20+ years ago! This new one has fantastic features that the older one didn’t have.It can print up to 2 lines as well as print vertically. I can get 11 different color cartridges. The label tape and the ink come as a single component so when I buy a different color, I’m also buying more label tape. They’re not separate. That’s okay but it would be nice to have the tape separate. The label maker is very small…much smaller than my older one, which is really nice. It runs on 6 (!) AAA batteries.I’m impressed.

be advised that these take a different tape from the other Type of Brother Labeler
My orginal Brother Labeler has got to be roughly 15 years old now. It still worked perfectly until I dropped it and broke the casing. After some glue and tape it still worked, but you had to hold it just right… My fault…. So, I ordered this Brother labeler and it works just fine, but I was surprised to find that the tape cartridge is completely different from my last version. No big deal except I’d just bought a box of label cartridges for my original machine… That is not a BROTHER or this product problem, but just something that I wish I’d thought to check. Otherwise, this works great. No hesitation. Buy it

Super Cool Label Maker
This label maker came with white tape and blue ink. It is easy to add the batteries and the tape. It does require 6 AAA batteries or can use an optional DC input, but that is not included. There are tons of adjustments available for the size and thickness of the text. It also has 3 font options. It is packed full of various options and features. Highly recommended!

4 out of 5 Stars (4)ââââ[TL;DR][QUALITY] (5/5)[VALUE] (3/5)[EASE OF USE] (3/5)[MET EXPECTATIONS] (4/5)[PACKAGING] (5/5)[REVIEW REMARKS]This is really decent printer for labels, but there are some issues that should be addressed. The Good:- Print quality is excellent- Easy to setup the first time- Easy to press buttons- Print confirmation before it prints.- Included tape is a generous enough supply to allow you to figure out all the ways you can print with it.- Display shows the length of your print in the lower right corner. This is great for ensure the tape will fit on the object you are printing for.The “Not So Good”:- No power options included. There is no power adapter OR batteries included. Order this separately. I was not able to find a specific adapter for this model.- The DC Plug input is on the bottom of the keyboard. This port SHOULD be on the side, or back of the unit. Out of the users way.- The display is not backlit. This is a fail for accessibility. Although, you can adjust the LCD contrast, it does not address low light situations.- Replacement tapes are around $9.99 for 4m, there does not seem to be any non-OEM options available (at the time of writing this review)All in all, it is a decent label printer suitable for many applications. However, I am disappointed that I could not find an adapter for this model, specifically. I looked on Amazon and Brother’s Canadian website. The adapter that is for their P-TOUCH product group (PT-N20 is not listed), is between $30-50. The device takes 6xAAA batteries, which is a lot of batteries. So for limited use, it could be cost effective. For regular to heavy use, this would be a device that would be costly to maintain.I would recommend another model over this one. The elusive power supply that is not included, and the costly use of batteries (also not included), and the costly media that is only available through Brother, makes this a item a loss leader, foot in the door, item. The need to purchase more from Brother to use your label maker is the reason I do not recommend this product. In the event that experiences change or evolve, updates may be made to this review to address such developments.

This label maker is a bit smaller, more compact, than their other “desktop” type label maker. It is also $10 less than the larger model, so for most, I feel this is better value for the money. This makes labels that are one line. There are many fonts to choose from to jazz up your labels, and the kit comes with a single white cartridge. At the time of this review this label maker is $50 CDN, but I expect it to work for a very long time. This is a single purpose machine, making labels. It is so easy to use, that I feel if you have a lot of labels to make, this would be a great choice. You can do an auto repeat of printing of up to 20 at a time. For me, this makes this a handy addition to the classroom. All of the Brother products I have had in the past have been great quality, and this device looks to be of the same high quality build.A couple of neat features, one is that you can save 10 labels so you can just pick and repeat print without having to retype the label, which has a number of handy applications. Next, an app is NOT required to make this device work. I feel that things that really don’t need to be connected, should not be connect to the internet of things. For me, not needing an app adds a level of ease of use, and I appreciate that a lot. This is a big, big step up from the old style label makers with the curly, hard plastic. Another thing I appreciate about this is that it has a “standard” keyboard (QWERTY), so making a label is much faster than having to spin the dial as the old maker needed. Also, this printer prints level on the label, something the old style label maker could not always do.Product reviewed: Brother P-Touch PT-N20 Personal Desktop Label Maker Machine with Btag Tape, Portable Label Printer, Easy to Use, Multiple Font Styles, User-Friendly Templates for Organizing, Storage, Office and Home

I like this desktop label maker. It is very easy to use and has all the basic functionalities you can think of, even some fonts and fun emoticons for variety. I love using these labels on my daughter’s school supplies, lunchbag, etc. and they don’t get shabby or fade during washing. Some criticism: this device is not cheap and out of the books you cannot use it if you don’t happen to have 6 (six!) AAA batteries. I don’t usually stock these at home in that amount, so it was quite a disappointment to see that this device needs so many batteries and even though there is a cable socket, a cable is not included in this package. The tape included is the white one with blue ink. It has a nice contrast and prints sharply. However, I found it sometimes difficult to separate the sticky tape. This device does take third party tape, so that may come in handy.

We’ve been using an older P-Touch label maker for over 20 (!!) years, and it’s been rock solid reliable. I hope that we can get that much life out of this newer PT-N20!Off the bat, I must say that this is a much larger unit than I was expecting. It is comfortable to hold and type on, and there’s a place to attach a lanyard, which is a nice touch! This unit, like with pretty much all battery-operated label makers, takes quite a few batteries. 6 x AAA to be exact, and they aren’t included in the box.Much to my surprise, this unit also accepts a DC 9V input for batteryless operation, but no adapter or cable is included and must be purchased separately. You do get a sample roll of tape, which is much shorter than the replacements. And the included tape is blue on white. At the time of this review, a replacement roll of black on white, which has 13.1 ft of tape, is $9.99. Compared to the older tape we use on our other Brother P-Touch, this is considerably more expensive, and there doesn’t appear to be any third-party options available (yet). The quality of the tape is excellent, and there’s no doubt that if you want the best tape for longevity, wear resistance, and versatility, then go with the Brother original tape.Using this label maker is quite intuitive and not at all complicated. It has a collection of built-in fonts, styles, and icons, and you don’t need an app!I do appreciate that you can easily create labels with two lines, and the unit has a handy preview feature which also gives you an idea of the expected printed length of the tape! Very handy! You have the option of saving/loading labels directly on the machine, which can be quite useful if you have repeated labels to make at different times.I also appreciate that it doesn’t just print when you hit the print key – it asks you how many copies you’d like to make, so that’s a nice buffer from making accidental prints.I have two complaints:The display, while clear in good lighting, is not backlit and difficult to see in some situations. The second complaint is that there’s no way to see how much tape is left without removing the back panel. You do have a clear window to see what tape you’re using, but not the tape left. It’s a bizarre oversight, and this could have easily been accommodated by simply making the clear window a little longer.Overall, at under $50, you’re getting a good label maker. It’s got enough features to satisfy most needs, but not so much that it feels overwhelming to use.If I can get 20 years out of this one, then it’s for sure an unbeatable value!
