CAP Economy Olimpic Barbell year review
The CAP bumper plates may have a strong smell at first, but after owning them for over a year, I can confidently say they are worth it. The odor dissipated within about a month, and now there’s no trace nor residual oil. I currently use 15, 25, 35, and 45-pound plates almost daily, and despite dropping them after deadlift sets and while changing weights, they havenât broken or suffered severe damage. The quality is impressive; I always feel and inspect them when I handle them. Given their durability and price, they really are superb. There’s no need to buy those ultra-expensive plates just to say you have them or because you’ve seen them in places like GGR or Gluck’s Gym.I’ve considered other brands like Rogue and Rep Fitness, but I’m not convinced it’s worth the excessive prices they charge for something I can get for much less while still enjoying excellent quality. Iâm thinking about purchasing an additional set of 230 pounds, and Iâm leaning toward the CAP competition color plates. My honest opinion from a mid-40s mid-dad with a salary job is that they are worth it. You don’t have to break the bank.

Such a great price. Great quality
The CAP Barbell Rubber Olympic Bumper Plate is fantastic! These plates are built to lastâsolid, durable, and designed to withstand heavy use. The rubber coating helps protect both the plates and my floor, making them perfect for home gyms. They fit securely on the barbell, and the grip is excellent, even during intense lifts. Iâve been using them for months now, and they still look as good as new. The weight is accurate, and the plates don’t make a lot of noise when dropped, which is a big plus. Overall, great value for the price, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade their gym equipment!

It does what itâs supposed to
At the end of the day, Iâm getting reps in bc of these affordable barbell plates. YES it reeks of cigarette smoke when it arrives. The packaging tape is yellow likely from all the smokers in the shop. Annoying – yes. Would I return it over this – no. I ordered three separate orders or weights, and every time is was stinky and oily. Does it hinder my workout? Noooo. Again, itâs annoying, but they look good and Iâm so glad I didnât purchase used plates on those secondhand apps for the double the cost.Iâve had them 1-2 months and the smell lingers. I havenât put a ton of effort into cleaning them as they stay in the garage and the odor is not strong enough to damage or stain anything else. Best bang for your buck.

Best Weight Plates for the Money
For the money these are probably the best quality weight plates you can get that are a fraction of the price of traditional/metal weight plates. I got 2 45 lb. plates for less than what I would pay for 1 plate of the traditional style at the local sporting goods/fitness store. These come well packed in sturdy boxes, and are wrapped in plastic. There is a bit of shipping grease on them and they do have a little bit of a plastic smell to them. The smell will go away in a few months and just have some wipes on hand when they arrive so you can wipe/clean them off. They look great, have a good feel to them, and work with the 2.5 inch barbells. These were a huge addition to my home gym since I was moving up to heavier weights on squats and deadlifts and needed to buy more plates behind my first 300 lb. Olympic Set. Other plates were cost prohibitive and I was initially skeptical about these given how “cheap” they were/are, but they are high quality and good plates. These have also been great for deadlifts since they are a bit easier on my floor padding than the metal weights. The only drawback is that there isn’t a good handle or spot to grip the plate when you take it off the rack, so with the heavier plates you’ll have to use 2 hands to pick them up and rack them. Will certainly buy a few more of these when I need to expand my weight set.

Stinky but functional
Pros: – It’s a heavy circle – Cheapest bumper plates out there – I bought two, they are both the same weight (45.8lbs)Cons: – Almost a whole pound off (as I said, 45.8lbs) – They stink to high heaven – Outer rubber scratches easily, keep these off rough surfaces like concrete if you can

Works – good quality
So far so good. Unboxing them, they had residual oil that had to be cleaned off but nothing that seemed too taxing. The rubber odor was noticeable, but after a couple days has dissipated. The rubber is a little more slick than others it seems, but again, nothing unexpected. No gouges, missed ink, or errors observed.

VERY GOOD QUALITY, No seperation of the plate
This plate came at a very afforable price. The quality is on par with many more expensive brands. The weight advertised is accurate and the inner collar ensures smooth sliding onto any barbell.

Good value. Nice weights
This one is a little thinner than the economy model while still weighing exactly 45 lbs. It’s easier to pick up and looks good. I don’t see any negatives to this, price was good too compared to some others here.

If you need a thick bumper plate and donât want to pay for the super expensive high end name brand ones. This one is a good value pick. There are several versions but this is their highest quality version with the thicker metal ring. Has a smell but goes away pretty quick. Does the job of bumpers. No issues. I would recommend getting these only when thereâs a sale.

3 out of 8 plates look like this. Not made for impact. Will not buy again.
