This is a good basic campset.
This is a really good starter/basic campset. It is aluminum,so it wont’ last very long if you scrub them with brillo pads– so be warned ! I wore some weak spots in one after just 20 uses and it ended up with a hole in that spot, but i was using the green brillo pads, too– probably too aggressive for the aluminum. If you wash by hand with a cloth, which i did for the first 10 uses, I would expect these to last for a while.I do NOT recommend putting these in the dishwasher.. bad things happened after just one time in mine (surface started pitting and came out with what appears to be dried food, but turned out to be some kind of coating flaking off that didn’t take well to the heated dry cycle in my dish washer.)The coffee mug is a little small, but it’s also compact and fits inside, which is nice and would not be possible if it was bigger.Since these are lightweight aluminum, they will dent pretty easily, but that’s the nature of the lightweight aluminum, not something bad about this product.Otherwise, i’ve been happy with this set. I bought a second one, if that tells you anything.

Best lightweight camping stove EVER for my Esbit pocket stove!
I have seen in the comments that some have not cared for this stove… I say that they may not be using the stove at it was intended! I used a mess kit very similar to this every day for the close to 20 something years I was HOMELESS! It work great with my Esbit pocket stove and fuel tabes…It is made of thin aluminum in order to boil water and cook food quickly, you will not be able to cook a five course meal on it, but you can have a hot meal pretty quick…. This set is not non-stick so oil or butter should be used to help with clean and if near a beach a little sand always helped me with the clean up to remove stuck foodð this set should not be place directly on an open camp fire without a grill over the fire, but used with a small grill and close monitoring it has always worked for me… I bought this,June of lst year as a replacement for my other mess kit that was stolen from me in case I am,camping or homeless again and should need to have my one hot meal a day!

It’s a great lightweight mess kit for 1-2 people. Perfect for lightweight backpacking.
Iâve wanted to camp more for a while now, so I finally got a group of friends together and did it. I purchased this set as a rudimentary set to use, and was supposed to be one of two people to bring âdishesâ into camp. Well, they forget their set, so I was definitely glad I purchased one before we went camping. This set served my purposes well, and is definitely meant for one or two people, max. If you have a small group of people, or cook in batches, it can still do the trick, but it will just take longer. Iâm confident this mess kit should last me a while. Yes, it scratches easily and loses its shine quickly, but I really donât care about that since I only got it to function as a lightweight kit. There are four main pieces in this mess kit: a small cup, âfryingâ pan, a shallow pot, and a shallow bowl. The cup was able to hold about 8 oz. of liquid, the frying pan could easily fit a seared sausage, and the pot was able to fit about half a can of soup with about ¼â to spare at the top (in other words, enough for one person).PROS:-Lightweight.-Easy to assemble the handles.-They all stack together, so they take up less room in your pack.-Perfect to use with a small camping stove.-Heats up quickly, so you use less butane. Only takes a minute or so cool down enough to eat, but it kept the soup warm the whole time.CONS:-Like many people said before me, they stick very easily.-I donât know if this is just my paranoia, but the handles seemed very flimsy. They didnât break off while in use, but I was constantly afraid they would.

2 versions of the mess kit?
I purchased this kit from Amazon and when it was delivered, the cup was not included. I noticed that the kit was pretty flimsy and was already bending when unpacking it. It almost was like those disposable pie pans you can get at the grocery store. I chalked it up to being what it was, a $9 mess kit. Well, since it was missing an item, I contacted Amazon and they shipped me a new one right away (great service). Once my new one came, complete this time, I noticed that it was much sturdier and seemed to be made of better quality. It didn’t bend or have any issues. I wonder if Coleman has different Chinese manufacturers for the same product. If so, I would bet the different manufacturers use different materials to make this product. My advice is, if you can find this product at a brick and mortar store at the same price, get it there so you can compare different packaging and materials. I gave this 3 stars as the 2nd kit delivered is way better than the first and Amazon treated me how I expected. I haven’t used the kit yet but plan to soon and will update with how it actually works.

Lightweight, Affordable, Dependable
Super lightweight mess kit great for one person! The aluminum cleans up really well from being over the fire and it gets hot fast! Extremely lightweight, I was surprised by that. Probably the lightest thing in my pack LOL! Donât waste your money on those cheaply made pot/pan/cup kits, this is ALL you need!

This is perfect for my bug out bag! I love how it all fits together perfectly into a nice small little package and extremely lightweight. I hope I never have to use it but I’m sure glad I have it!

The good: it’s lightweight, packs small. Was only $9.The not so good: it’s thin-gauge aluminum. About twice the thickness of disposable pie-pans you get at the dollar store. the pan’s handle and mounting is rather flimsy (don’t lose that wingnut!). luckily, it is slotted, which can be used to put a stick into (and pressing against the pan), which would help make it more rigid, if you have a lot of weight in the pan.The bad and ugly: the Coleman logo is stamped into the underside. it’s so thin that it goes through to the other side, which will make things stick even more, in a pan that’s already a magnet for having food stick to it. It’s also a weak spot right over where the flame hits it (it’s as if this is programmed to self-destruct).This is not a durable piece of kit. It’s for the person who’s not an experienced back-packer, but might go once, maybe twice, on really short trips, in the course of the summer.Hard to clean: I suggest that you bring along a tiny bottle of dish soap (doubles up as hand-soap) and a plastic scrub pad to clean this with. Boil some water to give you some warm water to wash it with, and it should clean up not too bad. But don’t expect this to remain shiny and new-looking. It won’t. It’ll be a mess with carbon deposits on it. So also make sure you either keep it in it’s box, or have a plastic bag to put around it, to keep it from getting your other things dirty. This item, if it were more expensive, (heightened expectations), would be a 1-star. But because it’s only $9 now, you get what you pay for, and it’s a reasonable value for your money. If you expected to spend so little, on something to last very long camping trips, that’s on you, not on this product. Get something better if you expect to be out in the brush for weeks at a time.If you found this helpful, kindly give it a like.
