Juryâs still out
I ordered it expecting it to be cheaply made. Itâs 20 bucks. When it came I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it seemed. I have bad allergies and sometimes ear infections. I hate going to the doctor when I have an earache just so he can look at it and say, âitâs infectedâ or âtheres fluidâ So I was excited at being able to quickly tell. My husband and I used it for all of about ten mins before it literally fell apart in my hand. Just fell apart. Couldnât be put back together. So I reported the issue and quickly got a replacement. Seems to work well so far. Will update review if breaks again.

Best for the money.
Iâve tried primac, which looks identical to cynamed but cheaper. Guess what? Looks can be deceiving. The cynamed is 3x magnification and clear viewing any ear canal to the TM without my reading glasses. The similar otoscopes from the other manufacturers are not 3x magnification. I wasted my money on 3 primac and Iâm having to order a couple more cynamed to replace them. You wonât be satisfied with any other look a like because though they look and function almost identically, the magnification is true on cynamed.Update: I donât know what the problem is, but I continue to go through LED bulbs until I have none left. Iâm going to try to reach out to the company if I can ever figure out where their contact information is. I still like the otoscope and will continue to use it as long as I can figure out what causes the LEDs to continually Blow.

Does what it’s supposed to do
I purchased this otoscope to examine my dog’s ears and to use on medical missions. My fur baby has allergies and frequent ear infections. However, his ear drums were obscured by wax. So I examined my husband’s ears Instead. This otoscope was perfect. The lighting was good. It was easy to use. I’m not sure what the bad reviews were about. Perhaps those reviewers received defective otoscopes, or perhaps they did not know how to use an otoscope. I am a physician who has used many different types of otoscopes. I assure you this one is adequate for at home use and probably for the office as well.

Defective product âDangerous Fire Hazardâ
I had purchased this item on Dec 1st. I purchased to check my 2yr olds ears and nose when they say they are stuffy or it is bothering them. The product worked fine for a few days then the light stopped working. I changed the batteries and the light would still not turn on. I set it to the side and about 20min later I smell a plastic burning smell, I picked it up and it was so hot I thought it would catch fire. I immediately took it outside and took out the batteries. Do not buy this product. I sell Surgical Equipment for a living and this product should be recalled. I feel if I didnât catch this in time it would have caught fire in my house.

What not what I was wanting
I never used the product because the plastic looked and felt cheap. There were gaps where is was suppose to line up. I returned it before using.

Looks like the picture and works.
Definitely google pictures of ear drums before you make an attempt, or you will think you aren’t seeing anything unless the ear drum is severely inflamed and obvious. This is actually a cool little tool to know if you need to make a doctor’s appointment or not and to keep a daily eye on an ear infection. It’s also just cool to have!Make sure you check the speculums and use the shorter one first. With the longer ones they give you you will not see anything because it makes a shadow in there. The light is also blueish which makes it challenging to know what you’re seeing. But again, this is way cheaper than the doctor’s version so it’s still a huge win!
