Well designed
I have a troubled history with bike headlights. They are either so flimsy that they break after a year or two, or the battery stops holding a charge and I have to replace the whole unit. This Fenix BC26R has excellent fit & finish and looks like it will hold up to daily riding. The replaceable battery is an excellent idea. The beam is bright on “high” (one setting below the brightest: “boost”) and even has lenses on the sides to increase my visibility from those directions. I have spent three times as much for lights that aren’t as good. I’m very happy with this purchase.

Very pleased
Though I’ve only used this lamp a few times, I’m quite pleased. Bright light, dimmable, solid metal enclosure, standard lithium cell, and good handlebar mount that allows the lamp to be quickly disconnected without having to remove the mount and also to pivot off axis (with detents) for better aim.

SO BRIGHT
*Update* At some point while riding without the light on, but the mount still attached to the bike, the part of the mount that actually holds the light on fell off. It’s a tiny piece of plastic so I didn’t even notice it. Fenix’s customer support was quick to respond, but didn’t offer to replace the part or mount. I ended up having to buy a new mount for $15.This light is spectacular! It’s about as bright as the headlights on my car (narrower beam) and the battery lasts way longer than I was expecting.I did a midnight ride up Mt. Saint Helens and used this on its lowest setting on the way up and the highest setting on the way down, and it was flawless. Didn’t even dip one bar of battery on the way up, and it was still half full by the time I got back to the car. 20-ish mile ride, maybe 3 hours with the light on.The beam is annoying on my drop handlebars as it picks up the drops and I get weird shadows with it, but it’s still super bright.I think the mounting bracket could be a bit larger to accommodate for modern bars that are wider, or have lots of cables on them (particularly on the drop bar), but it works just fine.Very impressed with this light, the mounting clip is really easy to clip on and off so I can take it into the bar or house when I’m not on the bike. And the adjustments left to right are solid.Highly recommend spending the money on this light if you ride at night and want to see and be seen.

Almost perfect 🙁
The construction, output and battery life are better than any other bike light. I wanted to give it 5 stars but the 100 degree wide angle is too wide. It illuminates your tires, and cables really well, but does not project down the road enough. Plus the LED battery indicator flashing green at 85%. It’s distracting. Flash at me when you’re at 10% not 85%. Or just show a simple green, orange, red progression, no flashing.

The light fell off the mount on the drive home, and now itâs gone foreverâ¦.
The light has a quick release that lets you detach it from the mounting bracket. I used the light for cyclocross (bicycling on trails and grass and mudâ¦.) and it never fell off on the trails. However, I always took it off the bike when I put the bike on the car rack. I wanted to make sure it didnt fall off on the way home. Then one day, after only having it a few weeks, I forgot to take it off before the short drive home (5 or 6 miles ). Sure enough, somewhere along the way it came off the mounting bracket, and now itâs gone forever. I still donât understand why, because the roads are pretty smooth, and it never came off on the trails. Anyhow, itâs still gone. So make sure you take it off before putting your bike on a bike rack. It sucks to loose such an expensive light.Other than not having it anymore, brightness was pretty good. I didnât have it long enough to see what the battery life was. And it definitely gets warm on the highest lumen setting. The mount wasnât very good (photo attached). It wasnât large enough for my cyclocross bike handlebars. But I found I could make it work by attaching it with a cable tie which you might be able to see in the photo. (Notice that I still have the mounting bracket – that didnât fall off. The light fell off the quick release.)

It’ll put your eye out
So bright that it needs to be carefully aimed on your handlebars or you’ll get dirty looks from oncoming drivers. But you’ll be able to see, possibly into the future it’s that bright.

excellent customer service
I’ve dropped this light at speed onto asphalt several times on accident and you can barely even tell. Support was extremely responsive and went above and beyond the one time I had questions about accessories. The only bike light brand I recommend with a passion.
