   Good starter kit for beginners
   I started fishing like 1 month ago and this is really good kit for beginners. I caught couple of strips bass and drums fish around 7-10 lbs with this rod. Love it

   Budget Shore Fishing Kit
   Budget Fishing KitOn first inspection, this appeared to include a lot of stuff. The assembly of the rod was straightforward enough. The reel itself is clearly not heavy-duty, nor is the rod. The rod looks sturdier than it really is, and that’s because of its collapsible design. I wanted the ability to fish with a more portable option, and this kit looked like a reasonable fit.The telescoping pole extends easily, with friction holding it in place. An adjustable knob easily holds the reel in place. The handle is reversible, a feature I like. Stringing the line and adjusting the drag tension was a cinch. This is clearly not for deep-water fishing. This is more suitable for shore fishing or small boats. The portability allows for use in a kayak or canoe. Casting worked fine, and reeling was easily adjustable via the knob on top.I carefully put the rod back into the compact position, holding the line taut while reeling to maintain tension similar to reeling in a loose line. The assembled unit would fit in the tackle bag as it was, but not next to the unassembled second unit. The removal of the handle allowed it to fit in the bag.Upon closer inspection and assembling of the second rod, I noticed the reel was not intact. The top tension wheel was loose, as was the spool. It turns out that a pawl gear is missing. I can’t say how it was not in the included tackle bag or how the unit became disassembled, as no packaging was damaged. This means the second reel has no drag function. The gear also keeps the line spool in place, and without it, the spool flops about, allowing fish line outside of the spool. The policy is to return the entire package for an exchange or a refund. I’m hoping an old reel or a bait shop will have the tiny pawl gear needed for the second unit to function properly.Another reel to replace the botched one isn’t the end of the world. With that said, the portability and ease of use is otherwise hard to beat. I can think of a few people new to fishing but eager to learn, and this easy-to-carry kit has almost everything needed. A few split shot pinch weights and a few more interlocking snaps would have been a welcome addition. There is excess room in the bag for cleaning tools such as a filet blade, a roll of tape to keep lines and hooks in place, scissors, etc.I was hoping to give 5 stars for value, but a single tiny pawl gear missing, making one reel almost useless, was a mood dampener. An attempt at messaging the seller got me Amazon’s Assistant, which provided for the easy-enough return/exchange policy. One of the perks of shopping with Amazon. 5 stars to Amazon 3 to seller, as I’d be happy to wait for the missing part, or a full reel if that’s what it came down to, as not everyone is familiar with the repair of such devices. It is literally a gear that slides on. 3 stars because even though I do like the product and believe my experience is probably not customary, I feel a simple small part (pawl gear) sent through mail could and should be a viable option.Edit: The local Ma and Pa sporting goods store had a spare pawl. The guy behind the counter (shop owner) gave a quizzical look when I showed him what I needed. He took apart a reel from a box of old ones and handed me a gear. Now both rods work and the kit is complete : ) I felt fortunate, as not everyone has access to a store like that.

   Good for what it is
   I ordered this for something I could easily put in my car when traveling around the country with my grandson. If we see a spot that looks good to fish, we can stop and check it out. I have another set that I like a little more, but it was more expensive. I wish this set had a way to fold over the crank so it would more easily fit in the case. I also feel the rod handles on this set are less comfortable than my other set.I had a quick result with the pencil type, blue, casting lure and caught a bass on my third cast and had another strike a few minutes later. This was in a spot I had been fishing for 30 minutes with no action at all, and using my go to lures.

   Product damage, stuck in extended position. Cheap quality
   Item came damaged. Part was broken off. Extended the rod and the rod won’t close. It’s stuck in a extended position. I just got it and not a few minutes later it came with issues.

   Very not stable
   Tried it twice and I had to return it since the pole was not standing in one place when extended. The reel was also not the best option since if you did not rotate in the proper angle, it will bump constantly.

   Great value package for starter
   I am kind of new to fishing, so this combo is really what I need. It’s so easy to use for any fishing starter. Light weight and look great too. I got my first catch.
