Great so far! Super portable and gets good sun!
I have not yet tested this items durability to strenuously, but so far it does everything it claims to do. I have checked output stats with a meter on all output options and it performs very well (obviously the sun plays a factor in this).The panel is very light, fits in my backpack easily, and is easy to manipulate to get the best view of the sun.Future update idea, add a meter to it giving voltage and wattage readings. It is very helpful to know when you are getting the best power from the sun, I do not think I would have gotten the results I did had I not added my own inline meter.If you want the most power, get yourself a $10 meter, you wont regret it!

Super-effective solar panel
This solar panel is very robust and does a great job charging my battery pack. I’ve used this for >1 week without power and was very impressed. It’s also fairly light and can withstand the grime and dust of backpacking.

Versatile
Avid kayak camper. Got this solar panel to charge a power station but found that the station prefers a slow charge which kinda blows the solar idea. i got the power station to charge my phone and other electronics i use while camping. Ironically this solar panel charges my phone and those other electronics quicker than the power station including my bose flex Bluetooth speaker. It has 3 outputs, but the one i recommend is usb c. It spits out the most power from that connection so get yourself a 100w c to c cable. I got a 10′ so i can have the panels in the sun while the electronics stay in the shade. Im also a tradesman and use my bose speaker everyday but the battery doesn’t go all day, but it does with this solar panel connected to it. I gave it 4 stars because it doesn’t put out nowhere near 40 watts because my power station tells me the what its recieving, but it does effectively charge my devices provided the sun is out. It folds down very compact and very easy to carry. Im satisfied with my purchase, but would recommend to hold off until a sale or coupon or a bundle offer. If it was a true 40 watt, it would be worth the full price, but it’s not so it’s not.

DC out works
The DC out works, giving direct access to the panel itself, which seems to perform fine (like I’d expect for a 40W panel – I got 20W in non-ideal conditions). I didn’t try the direct USB charging part.The holes make it plausible to find a way to put it up so it catches more sun at a nice angle. This one is more about hanging it from a tree or on an incline facing the sun or similar – it doesn’t come with any HW to prop it up, but sticks and rocks are fine for that.When folded and in its box, it survived being in checked luggage, and it seemed fairly sturdy that way.

Good size for charging small devices quickly
This solar panel is big enough to completely cover your day pack as you hike and should charge smaller devices like phones pretty quickly. It doesn’t fold completely flat, but it is flexible enough to provide some “give” when you pack it. I haven’t yet found a suitable case or bag to protect it, but it’s pretty sturdily built and should be fine packed around soft items like clothing. Looks and feels like decent quality that should last a while.

UPDATE: FlexSolar reached out to me after my initial review and asked what they could do to improve my experience. They offered me a refund or a second solar charger. I chose the second solar charger because I was eager to see if perhaps I didnât simply receive a defective unit. So as far as their customer service goes, I donât think I have ever personally experienced better. They shipped a second solar charger and it arrived in just a day or two. I have to say that I am very, very happy with their customer service.Unfortunately, I just canât recommend these solar chargers. They simply donât work well in comparison with some other portable solar chargers that I own. Iâve created a whole video on solar chargers, comparing different solar chargers to others, and of all that I have tested, FlexSolar drags itself into last place every time. They underperform. After having such a positive experience with FlexSolarâs customer service, believe me that I wish I could report differently, but I canât. If you would like to see me put this FlexSolar solar charger through a very simple test in comparison with some other chargers, look up The Practical Woodsman on YouTube.ORIGINAL REVIEW: Iâve only had this for a couple of weeks and it already seems to not work. I have been trying different things with it for multiple days and it just doesnât want to give a charge to anything. I think somebody in another review said it best – Iâm paraphrasing: âFlexsolar looks like itâs built tough, but itâs not.â Indeed, the entire reason I chose to purchase this particular 40w solar panel over others is because it seemed better built to me. But I have a 28w Big Blue made out of canvas material that never fails me.

It arrived on time. Brand new out of the box. I got it for a camping trip northern Ontario in August, so I have not used it extensively. But the day it arrived I took it out of the box, put it on my deck on an angle facing the sun, plugged in my s22 ultra and it was fast charging…. I smiled and put it back in the box to await my awesome camping trip. I can update in a few months if I have a problem. So far so good. Seemed high quality to the touch when unfolding and handling it.Although I thought it came with a rubber cover for the three ports, it did not.Just the solar panel and two carabiners.

Das Panel ist handlich und hat mit 40W trotzdem genug Power, um im Sommer ein iPhone in 30min wieder eine Weile einsatzbereit zu bekommen. Selbst jetzt im September funktioniert es bei guter Ausrichtung noch sehr gut. Meistens magnetisiere ich das allerdings einfach nur seitlich ans Auto. Die Verarbeitung scheint sehr solide zu sein. Das Gewicht ist vermutlich etwas zu hoch, wenn man wandern möchte aber für den Camper ideal.
