GREAT Fly Trap! Works Wonders! Fly Population Plummeted by 90% or More!
My Mom has a big house on a large ranch where we use thousands of tons of chicken litter from the many local chicken farms to fertilize our hay meadows. Chicken litter (the straw and waste from the chicken houses) is a byproduct of the industry that must be disposed of and it makes great fertilizer. However, when you spread it out, all the fly eggs in it are able to hatch and you get a blizzard of flies! A BLIZZARD! It’s actually good because the billions of maggots that emerge across the fields eat through the waste in the litter and process it and make all the nutrients more bioavailable for the grass to absorb. It’s just part of how Nature works. Anyway, for a couple month each Spring and early Summer, she is besieged with flies and can’t really sit outside on her porch. I saw these on Amazon and thought I would try them and sat two of them out on her huge porch and the fly population plummeted by 90% or more! REALLY!! In just a few days, the flies disappeared (well they ended up in the buckets!) They do work very well! But they do STINK!

Catches Flys
This thing does indeed work as advertised. Has a bit of a yeasty smell but as long as you move it at least 10 feet away from the area you are trying to protect you cannot smell it. They sell refills of the baking soda/yeast attractant, but this thing is so filled with flies and so gross I’ll just by another new one. Still working strong after 1 month. Also, have not seen any beneficial insects get trapped, just flies and lots of them.

DOESN’T WORK because Plastic Mesh Cone Parts are ALL defective
Plastic Mesh Cone Parts defective, do not fit snugly, do not properly clip into bucket, not made with enough of a plastic lip to keep these in place – makes entire unit deffective as allows flies to come and go through the open holes where cones keep falling out of.Every time I check, one or more has once again fallen out & I could not even yet find the latest cone to pop out. Would require using unsightly duct tape around the outside rims of each “cone” in order to keep these each in place.

Worked so good it was bad…
I was so sure this was going to be the answer to my problems, but it backfired on me.I have two large dogs in a pretty small privacy fenced yard. I have someone who comes out twice a week to pick up their poo & dispose of it in a small enclosed outdoor trash can that I then put out for the trash truck ever two weeks. I was noticing an increase in flies as the weather started warming up, so started searching for a good solution. I have tried multiple types of fly traps. This one was easy to setup with the exception that the upper portion of the lid wouldn’t stay up on its own, so I propped it open with a piece of cardboard.I placed it fairly close to the patio door because I wanted to mainly stop flies from entering the house when the patio door was opened. About 2 hours after setting it up, I was excited because I could see that it was starting to attract some flies (it is quite stinky, by the way). 24 hours later is was clearly doing its job based on the number of flies that had found their way into the container. After 48 hours I decided i needed to relocate the container to a position farther away from the door because it was attracting more flies than it was catching. After a week in the new location, the container was about half-way filled with flies, but there were literally hundreds of flies still on the outside of the container. By this time it was obvious that they were breeding! There were so many flies & now the container was pretty much filled with flies, so I took it down to get ready to dispose of it. Remember when I said I had propped the upper lid open with a piece of cardboard? Don’t do this unless you know for sure that you can easily remove it or you will not be able to seal the container to dispose! When I pulled it down from the hanger i had it on, the space between the upper & lower part of the lid was packed full of live flies! It was like a scene out of The Exorcist! The lid was covered with fly droppings & was so gross, i couldn’t get the cardboard out & had to set the container in a small trash bag while it was still open & then place that in my large trash receptacle the night before trash pickup. After that barrel sat in the hot sun all morning waiting for pickup, my trash barrel smells like it had a decaying corpse in it for a month. I don’t know if I will EVER get that smell out & since my HOA requires that I store my barrels in my garage, this is a real issue.I wish I had gotten some pictures, but i was way too nauseated by the experience to think about that.Moral of this story…it works really well for capturing flies, but turns into a breeding space & before you know it, you have created a much larger problem. Within a day or two of taking it down & disposing of it, I have seen only a few flies out there.

Worked well at first but the smell is putrid
I had this bucket out in a different area for 2 days. It got about 50 flies and I was impressed. We feed some alley cats and their food attracts an insane amount of flies. This morning I moved it closer to where the majority of the flies were swarming. Less than 8 hours later I went to check on it and found this monstrosity!! This product is no joke. Thereâs at least 2000 flies that were caught today. Iâm so glad it works but also disgusted to see how many got trapped in only 8 hours. I will absolutely be buying again!!UPDATE: less than a week later and I had to toss it. This thing traps lots of flies but smelled like a porta potty that had not been cleaned in 3 weeks and left to bake in the hot sun- gagging when i tried to walk past it. The worst part was the larvae that began growing in the bucket. Hundreds of them writhing around. This bucket definitely traps them, but it does not kill them. Not one of them sank into the liquid or âdrownedâ as the product says it does. Not sure why they were just floating. If you have a minimal-medium fly problem this could work for you, but if you have a big fly problem this is not going to do the trick.

Me encantó, es un excelente producto, funciona bastante bien y no huele tan feo como otros. Lo recomiendo ampliamente.
