Works well
I use this to make foam for my cappuccino every day. It works well. It adheres very well on the counter thanks to little suction cups. It has two speeds and it is easy to clean. It makes great milkshakes as well. Obviously, this is a stirrer so it won’t crush ice or mash fruit, you will need a blender for this.It is a little loud (ok, a lot) but it does it’s job so fast, you don’t need to run for long. The price was good and it works great, so I recommend!!

Fine for just milkshakes
If you want fruit it must be mashed well before adding, and not frozen. Can use more ice cream than milk but hard to mix if over 2/3 to 1/3, which does make a thick shake. Looks good and easy to clean. Not using for the smoothies using frozen fruit, so won’t be used much except in summer.

This is a home model so not real sturdy but works well for home use
I bought this to make homemade milkshakes for my husband. The only issue I have with it is the cup is not very secure. I feel I have to hold on to it when it is running so it won’t come off the machine. I ordered another one, thinking it was just a problem with the first one, but they are all the same and I had to pay to return the new unused one to Amazon.

Terrible at making milkshakes
I bought this drink mixer to make milkshakes and it is terrible at making milkshakes. There are a number of reasons why this product is horrible:1) The biggest problem is that this mixer doesn’t mix well. No matter how much milk I put in the shake, the mixing wand just spins at top speed while the ice cream sits around the edges of the cup. Even when I move the mixing wand around the edges of the cup, the ice cream just sits there. In order to get the ice cream to mix correctly, I have to fully remove the cup from the mixer, move the ice cream around the cup with a spoon, and then return the cup to the mixer over and over again. This mixer has one job: to mix ice cream, and it fails completely at this task.2) The mixer head rotates backwards to allow you to attach and remove the cup. However, when the head is rotated backwards it doesn’t lock in place. This means that you need a 3rd hand to hold the mixing head up while you carefully remove the cup and mixing wand from the mixer. This situation is hugely inconvenience and usually causes a mess to be made all over the counter.3) The power cord is too short. It’s about 2 feet long.4) The mixer is not weighted well, causing the machine to be too top heavy when a cup is attached. The mixer needs more weight in the bottom of the machine so that it’s not so prone to tipping.5) The Hamilton Beach label was not applied correctly to the mixer. It’s got wrinkles and bubbles under the label. The label was also partway removed from the mixer when I first opened the box it came in.Overall, the build quality of this mixer is well below what I was expecting. I would never recommend this mixer to anyone under any circumstances. This Hamilton Beach mixer is absolutely terrible at mixing anything except two liquids. I am going to donate this thing to Goodwill and go back to using an immersion blender to make my milkshakes.
A Person With An Opinion –
All I can say is it makes a milkshake, barely. But it’s definitely much better than a blender.
My initial review of the DrinkMasterI’m am having a hard time rating this 3 stars but feel that it doesn’t deserve 2 stars. I guess when you are use to excellent products, like Breville, getting something as inferior as this machine is hard to stomach. The first thing that I noticed was the motor head seemed sizably smaller that I had expected. The motor sound really good running by itself, but seems to really struggle when you add…huh, ice cream. Really, it’s a milkshake maker and one scoop of ice cream makes it sound like its going to die. Beyond sounding like it was going to die, it started smelling like the motor was about to burn up. The motor head was very warm, not hot, but the smell after two minutes was worrisome for the longevity of the product. I will have to say for the $20 this might be a alright hold-me-over-until-I-can-buy-a-decent-drink-mixer machine, but at this price it’s a pass-on-it-drink-mixer machine. Regardless of the quality, the main thing that people buy the DrinkMaster for is the ability, or at least the main reason I bought, to make a milkshake, as many other people have stated, like they bought at a Walgreen’s, Walmart, Soda Shoppe place. The milkshake that I made was so far from the milkshakes that I have bought at a retail shop that sells milkshakes, may I repeat that, so unlike, so not like, so far, far, far from what I have bought at…uh, places that make great milkshakes, places that make sub-par milkshakes, places that make horrible milkshakes. Comparing the all mighty DrinkMaster to my blender, some people are cringing at the very though of this comparison…my blender make a milkshake as well as, as bad as, this horrific machine. I’m not saying don’t buy this machine. I yelling it at you at the top of my lung. So, if you for some reason decide to purchase this machine, don’t destroy the box because you will want to sent this spinning plastic contraption back. I will have to at least want until I’ve used up all the milkshake ice cream first. My more updated review of the DrinkMasterI decided that it would be good to leave my initial impression of the DrinkMaster as a point of reference. At first I was saying that I was having a hard time between two, I don’t like it, and three stars, it’s ok. I have upgrades my opinion on the DrinkMaster a little. Now I’m having a hard time between three stars, it’s ok, and four stars, I like it. Eventhough, definitely don’t think it rates in the I don’t like it area, I still don’t think that I like it. It’s ok is a good way to describe the DrinkMaster. I’m still so close to wanting to send it back and get a nice commercial grade mixer, but I don’t know if I can honestly justify paying $250 for a machine to make milkshakes, right now. When I have one that seems to do an ok, job of it right now.It still doesn’t compare to the quality of Breville. The motor head still seems undersized. It still seems to struggle with ice cream, but with some extra work (wiggling the cup around a lot, moving it up and down), it seems to get the job done in about 5 minutes. I’m not sure how long the plastic agitator will last after having to do all that. I still don’t like that it has one agitator and the nice machines have two agitators. It seems like that would really help the milkshake making process. I still don’t think it’s worth more than $20. Where I drastically differ now from earlier is the ability to produce a milkshake that is as good as a soda shoppe. I’m not sure about your fancy high-end soda shoppes that specialize in those types of product, but as far as fast food milkshakes, I have adjusted my formula and how I make the milkshake and produce a pretty dang good milk shake now. I think frothing the milk or creamer first might be a good step, but I think that you might need to experiment a little and keep a diary of your successful milkshakes and the technique that you used to produce the milkshake to your desired consistence. It might take 4 or 5 tries to actually get the formula correct, but it will produce a good milkshake.I thought about changing the title of my review, but still think that’s an appropriate description of my thoughts on the machine.

It does its intended purpose well
The key to making milkshakes with this is to use ice cream that has softened. It will not mix ice cream straight out of the freezer. Adding enough milk also helps. It won’t break up ice for a frozen drink or break up candy for a “Blizzard.” You would need a blender for that. I like the texture it makes. It looks cool on my counter top and one day it will to my man cave.
