The Hamilton Beach® Programmable Thermal Coffee Maker keeps coffee hot and fresh longer. The 10 cup thermal carafe has a thumb-activated lid for easy pouring and the cone brew basket delivers optimal extraction. Includes starter kit of cone filters.
COFFEE STAYS HOT FOR HOURS: The double-wall thermal carafe holds in heat longer and you’ll enjoy easy pouring with the thumb-activated lid. To pour a cup, simply press down on the lid’s pouring lever to open the spout — no need to twist open the lid first.
FRESH FLAVOR IN EVERY CUP. This thermal carafe coffee machine needs no hot plate, which can alter coffee’s fresh-brewed taste after brewing and scorch its flavor. Since your coffee tastes better longer, you can take your time savoring each cup.
CONE FILTER BASKET FOR OPTIMAL EXTRACTION: The cone brew basket is easy to fill and provides optimal extraction for great-tasting coffee. Includes a starter kit of #4 cone filters.
COFFEE THE WAY YOU LIKE IT. Customize coffee your way with regular, bold and robust brew strength options. With 3 brewing options to choose from, everyone has control over the taste of their coffee.

then pour it by hand over freshly ground coffee into my trusty old Melitta coffee pot – likely to cool excessively before I could drink it
I bought two of this coffeemaker’s predecessors (Melitta 46894) in 2014. This one replaces the one I bought for home on 1/31/14. Until that unit failed to pump water on 5/4/18, it performed flawlessly for 51 months. Though I always used reverse osmosis water in the unit, I never drained it to clean or descale it. Given the constant dust and the ash content of the air during the fires over the past year, hard water was likely the least of the coffeemaker’s challenges. I understand failure mechanisms as well as trade-offs that we make as users. If I wanted the ideal cup of coffee, I would awaken a half hour earlier, heat water on the stove to just below boiling, then pour it by hand over freshly ground coffee into my trusty old Melitta coffee pot – likely to cool excessively before I could drink it. But at age 65, I really enjoy hearing the programmed coffeemaker turn on at 6:15, smelling fresh-brewed coffee permeate the house in 15 minutes (on “Robust” brew strength), then getting up and having a hot cup of coffee. Yes, I’ve read reviews that the brew water temperature doesn’t reach 195F, and I couldn’t detect greater than about 185F with a less-than-ideal candy thermometer (I estimate I would measure 190-195F with a better thermometer). But I also understand that perfection can be the enemy of good-enough! And I do like a hot cup of coffee. The only differences I can see in this unit from the Melitta is that this has the new owner’s “Hamilton Beach” TM replacing “Melitta” on the front; the O-ring in the lid seems to be larger and fit more snugly on this than the old one; and the price on the current unit is about $10 less than prior. My verdict: this is a thoroughly competent coffeemaker. I may even schedule a cleaning every May, then review how long this unit lasts! But 51 months works out to about $1/month. For a reliably hot, strong, tasty cup of coffee every morning, I’ll take that.

Great coffee pot
Brews great coffee and the thermal carafe doesn’t burn the coffee.

Great machine, couple things are different from normal…
Coffee turns out great, has three settings of “Regular”, “Bold” and “Robust”. Steel carafe is very nice and solid, no worries about dropping and shattering. Looks good, I like the blue light and the timer feature. Very happy with the purchase.A couple things are different:1) the plate underneath does not stay on for long; carafe is apparently designed to keep coffee hot, which is does reasonably well – but not for as long as with coffee makers where the plate stays hot until you turn it off. This is a minus for some, but a plus for me because if I forget about it I don’t return an hour later to burnt, sludgy coffee. So I’m fine with that.2) Don’t try pouring a cup before the pot is brewed, because when you remove the pot the brewing coffee will keep dripping and you’ll have to wipe up the underplate later. All other machines I’ve had (other than single-cup Senseo, of course), stop dripping when you remove the pot, resuming when you place it back in. I like to jump the gun and pour some before the pot is done, so that’s a slight negative for me.

Disappointing
This is the third coffee maker like this I have owned. The first was under the brand Melitta. It lasted at least 5 years and was still working when I replaced it. The 2nd was under the brand Hamilton Beach. It was an exact replica of the first but only lasted a year until the switch went out. I assumed Hamilton Beach owned Melitta & decided to use its own name. The coffee made was as good as the first one. I ordered the 3rd maker, & itâs terrible. First, the handle is not straight, which causes discomfort, the pot is not the same shape, & the maker doesnât make hot coffee. Do not buy this. It has obviously been ruined. The manufacture took a great product, cheapened it & ruined it. I would return it but the box was destroyed. If Hamilton Beach were an honorable company, they would refund my $$.

Faulty wiring
I bought 3 of these and one of them was smoking as it was brewing the coffee. I am not exaggerating at all. It smelled like burnt rubber and smoke rolling out the back of it. Unsafe and scary. Unplugged as quickly as possible. They are making these way to fast and not checking their product before sending to buyer. I’m not buying them again That was so scary that it was gonna start on fire or blow the electrical box. Be Careful People

The ideal serving temperature for coffee is between 130 and 160 degrees Fahrenheit. This machine pumps out coffee at 174 degrees, cooling to 147 after 30 minutes in the carafe. The coffee was still 147 degrees after 70 minutes. That’s perfect, in my book. The water measurement scale on the side of the machine denotes small cup sizes. I get two full (2 cups/480 ml) when I fill the watermark to “6”.The strength button works. I find robust to be too strong, but others may love it. “Bold” is perfect for me. I suggest 1 tbs per 240 MLS of water. Your taste may vary.Bottom line: This is a good machine. Those suggesting the coffee is too cold either enjoy coffee served at higher than standard temperatures or had faulty units.I recommend this machine.
