   Not Too Shabby
   I haven’t used the reel yet, but it’s smooth, light and attractive. However, I do own a similar Kastking model at a similar price point and it has been amazing. To be fair, I only use it for jigging for pike and musky so I never really cast it. In fact, the light weight and small size made it attractive to me because ounces add up if you’re jigging all morning. Also, I love the IPT (inches per turn) as it’s about 30 inches. That allows me to get tight in a hurry. Also, I’ve landed dozens and dozens of fish in the 35 to 48 inch range – haven’t cracked 50 inches yet – and there’s more than enough power and drag. In fact ater the hookset, I usually have to dial the drag back. For me, this is a great reel at a great price.

   Good value but no its limits
   I have two of the KastKing Brutus reels and I use them both for worm rods (7″ medium heavy). I typically set one up Texas Rig and the other wacky. The reels have been good and cast decently. I have landed several large bass using them. I fish almost every weekend and sometimes during the week as well. I have owned both a little over a year and that is about the mileage you can expect from normal use. For the price I cant complain too heavily but its always disappointing when something fails. I love the ease of maintenance to oil and grease these reels. I may go up the chain into a higher model to see how they fair but I also might just replace knowing the expectancy.

   KastKing Brutus Bait Casting Reel – A solid contender for fishing your way
   First thing out of the box the graphite frame provides a reel platform that is lightweight at 7. 7 oz yet strong enough for any fishing situation. The 5+1 ball bearings provide a smooth, steady retrieve for the high speed 7.2:1 gear ratio. And when you get in to the big ones, the reel has enough heft to fight larger fish with its 17.6 pound maximum drag. The ten button magnetic braking system provides effortless casts keeping you out of bird nest city. This breaking system works exceptionally well. I was impressed with the range of adjustment. The spool tension knob has easy, audible click adjustments for fine tuning the reel. The star drag makes it easy to adjust the carbon disk drag. Along with the comfortable handle, this reel becomes an effective fishing machine. And when you consider the price, it is an exceptional value. KastKing has a winner with this reel.

   Great reel for the price!
   This is only my 3rd bait casting reel, the other two are Silver Max’s. So I only have one style reel to use as a comparison. I have to say, this Brutus by KastKing didn’t disappoint! It’s an amazing reel!When I wanted to get started using bait casters after only using spinning reels for the past 45 years, I was told not to get a cheap quality reel because I’d have trouble learning how to cast without getting lots of bird nests. But I didn’t want to get one that was so expensive if I didn’t like it.With that in mine, you’ll be very happy with the Brutus. It only took a couple of casts to get the brake and spool tension setup for the way I fish. After that, I was able to easily cast whopper ploppers and various crank baits with accuracy and distance. The reel was smooth, easy to setup and fun to use!If you’re looking to get started into bait casters and don’t want to spend a lot of money, this is a great reel to learn on. I even used it on a KastKing Royale fishing rod I use for my other bait caster! They made a great combination!I guess this means I’ll be buying another Rod (from KastKing)!
