Went with the blue
Bought it for the colors, loved the blue & white. I always thought they were calming with a soft amout of brightness in the room. I had one years ago and wanted another. Great quality and functions nicely. Doesn’t get extremely hot.

Not as colorful as expected
LAVA® Lamp – 14.5″ Night Swim – I would call it a “Night swim in the murky waters”! Not exactly what I expected regarding the colors. It is described as white and blue. But it’s only white and blue on the packaging picture. It looks gray with some bluish hue. And when the white bubbles start to rise it even looks like the liquid is somewhat murky. I also have a blue liquid and red lava which actually is blue and red. Other than that, the lamp works. The white lava rises and goes down. The lava balls are anywhere from 1/2 inch to 1-3/4 inch in diameter mostly. It gives the room a relaxing atmosphere. And if you don’t have anything to compare it with, it looks pretty decent.
everything was great except the light bulb blew after turning it on for 2hours. additional work to source e17 s11 light bulb –

Nostalgia unlocked!
My kids saw a lava lamp on a cartoon and thought it was cool. We told them about how we used to have one as kids, then we found this and decided to get it for them–if they didn’t like it I was going to put it in my room instead! This lamp is exactly what I thought it would be, even better than I remember. It does take some patience or foresight to turn it on in time to get the “lava” dancing while you’re going to be in the room to enjoy it. We are all very happy with this addition to our home.

Everyone needs a Lava Lamp at least once in their lives!
I always wanted a Lava Lamp, but never had one growing up or even when I got to college. So now, in my middle age, I was so excited that I not only finally got one and it really met my expectations. First, I donât think theyâve changed the design on this since the first ones were made back in the 1960s. As a consequence, there are some things about the lamp you should know. The wax comes solidified at the bottom of a bottle that has a crimped bottle cap (donât open it!). Thereâs an incandescent bulb in the base that produces the light and generates heat required to liquify the wax and generate the convective currents that cause the wax globs to move around the colored water. When I mean heat, Iâm not kidding. The liquid gets as hot as a cup of coffee, so you do want to be careful around the lamp and consider where you place it. Also, the glass with the wax and water just sits on the base that contains the lamp. Itâs not screwed on or fixed to the base in any way. If you live in âearthquake countryâ like I do, you want to think about placement with the expectation that it could be knocked over and fall to the ground. Because of the heat you canât use any of that seismic putty either, since that will just melt. I just keep mine on a low table that has a rug under it.As for the lava effect with the colored water and light, itâs pretty cool and fun to watch, so make sure to put the lamp where you can enjoy it and show it off. Going forward I hope the company considers updating the design a bit. The glass should be fixed to the base because itâs more secure. Also, they should ditch the incandescent bulb and go with an LED light coupled with a heating element to melt the wax. Incandescent lights are becoming scarce, and depending on where you live, they may not even be legal to purchase (see California). The Original Lava Lamp website does sell replacement bulbs online, but I have to wonder how long those are going to be manufactured. If youâve never had one of these but always thought about it, hurry up and get one why you can still enjoy it.

It’s a little dull
With it being blue the color is super dull. It works great and it’s fun to watch, but I wish it was brighter. Takes about an hour or two before it’s really going, but works great when it is.

It’s a Lava Lamp
If your an Old Head like me, then you know what to expect. It’s a Lava Lamp, from the REAL Lava company. It’s the same design and quality that its always been. Still gets hot as hell, Lava still flows the way it did. I like the blue wave design and the blue liquid with the white Lava. It’s a cool combination. The only thing I can say is the blue liquid is a little cloudy, but that might just be mine. Either way I still like it.

Not as vibrant as expected
The color tone looks nice in the ad but doesn’t light up as well and has a dull effect to it. Go with another brand.
