Dual Purpose Set Detects Both Mechanical and Air Induced Sounds. Use the black diaphragm chamber and screw-in metal probe to detect mechanical sounds from bearings, engines, transmissions, etc. For air induced sounds, attach the vinyl hose to the hollow tube and funnel assembly. The funnel amplifier will detect noises from vacuum leaks, exhaust leaks, air leaks and wind noise. For hard to reach locations, remove the funnel and use the hollow tube.

Exceptional Tool for Diagnosing Engine Issues
I recently purchased the Lisle 52750 Mechanics Stethoscope, and it has become an indispensable part of my toolkit. Hereâs why I highly recommend it:Dual Purpose: This stethoscope is a versatile gem. It detects both mechanical sounds and air-induced sounds with precision.Mechanical Sounds: The black diaphragm chamber and screw-in metal probe allow me to pinpoint mechanical issuesâwhether itâs bearings, engines, or transmissions. The clarity of the amplified sounds is impressive.Air-Induced Sounds: When dealing with vacuum leaks, exhaust leaks, or wind noise, I attach the vinyl hose to the hollow tube and funnel assembly. The funnel amplifier works like a charm.Durability: The build quality is robust, ensuring longevity even in demanding automotive environments.Ease of Use: Whether Iâm working on cars, trucks, or motorcycles, this stethoscope simplifies diagnostics. Itâs lightweight and ergonomic.Overall, the Lisle 52750 Mechanics Stethoscope is a must-have for any serious mechanic or DIY enthusiast. Itâs like having a doctorâs stethoscope for your vehicle! ðð§ððððððIâm thoroughly impressed by Lisleâs commitment to quality. This tool has saved me time and frustration. Highly recommended! ð

This thing works great. Audio cup is a great addition
The contact rod conducts sound great, and the audio cup makes it so much easier to find errant noises. It’s a lot better than trying to stick you ear down into a running engine. Good quality too, so much better than harbor freight.

Works great, but the part that goes in your ears not so comfortable
After decades of using a length of small heater hose/tubing or an extra long screwdriver pressed against my skull, I decided to buy one of these things with my rewards points. I really needed to pinpoint a sound source in a difficult spot, so I thought this would be a better choice over the hose/screwdriver trick. Also there are other moving parts going on nearby and just add to the noise in the general area. With this thing I can put the 1/8″ dia probe in a very specific spot. The attached diaphragm boosts the sound so I can hear even the slightest nuance. Haven’t really tried the air noise attachment, but it seems really good just playing around with it. The only serious drawback it has are the ear pieces, they are just uncomfortable for me. I also wish it had a slightly longer tubing section for more reach without it pulling on my ears. Overall a great tool to have when you need it.

Great bang for your buck. Simple and effective.
This is genius in its simplicity. Itâs a tube that connects to a hose that allows the sound to travel through that and to your ears. So you can really isolate the sound as itâs âlisteningâ right at the end of the tube. I was able to find an exhaust leak that was not detectable otherwise (I have loud exhaust already so not as easy to tell itâs leaking like a normal vehicle). The noise I have really sounds like a squeak, but turns out itâs more of a whistle. I was obviously not able to hear it through a screwdriver as the noise wasnât coming from the accessory drive and was not conductive through the screwdriver. This stethoscope method did the trick perfectly. Itâs not super comfortable so wearing it for lengthy periods of time wouldnât be ideal, but for the home mechanic that might need to isolate a noise from time to time, this should be perfect.

Excellent – especially with a little common sense
The âscope works like a champ! Was able to track down an arcing electrical contact under the hood with the engine running. While searching, I used the closed attachment and was able to hear fuel injectors firing, fuel and air running through hoses, mechanical items, etc. In the end, I used the open attachment to track down the arc, then the closed attachment to pinpoint and verify the component. This scope works beautifully! I previously bought and returned an amplified version because all I could hear through it was ambient engine noise. This mechanical one from Lisle works much better for a LOT always money. Others have complained about one of the ear tubes being blocked, but mine were both fine. Now on to the âhatinââ 🙂 I read a lot of complaints that, now that Iâve used this item, are frankly ridiculous. Honestly, youâd have to be dim to not get how this item works.1) âit hurts your earsâ – the ear pieces are drawn together using a strip of spring steel. It was little tight on my head out of the package – 3 seconds of bedding the âspringâ outward and what do you know – no more pinching! Personally, I would prefer a smaller ear tip, but I could easily accomplish that with a little sanding.2) âno instructionsâ – wow. There is a closed-ended rod with an âamplifierâ that is used for sound conduction by touching the item you want to test. There is also an open attachment with a âfunnelâ on the end that is used to track down vacuum or pressure leaks, or to isolate a sound prior to pinpointing it with the other attachment. The attachments slip into the end of the pickup tube. Thatâs it.Honestly, if you can figure out how to use this âscope, or how to bend/shape the earpieces to be more comfortable, or how to drill out one of the ear tubes if itâs blocked (which definitely is a defect), then you just donât need this device – any problem you might be able to track down with it would definitely be beyond anything you should be attempting to repair yourself. If these issues seem difficult to deal with then please take your car to a repair shop!!Anyway, this is a great tool that works as advertised and exceeded my expectations. Any reasonable DIYâer should be able to understand and customize this tool for their individual purposes/comfort.

Just when I needed to find a noisy alternator
They do exactly what they say they’ll do. The sound from the noisy bearings was easily picked up and I was able to diagnose the issue. These are a must-have in any shop. I also found a noisy bushing in my table saw. Great tool to have around…

Works perfectly
Worth the money works perfectly

Lived up to expectations
I’ve always used a long screwdriver with handle end held to ear with metal end as probe with moderate success. With vehicle parts cost out of control you cant really afford to guess anymore. This helped diagnose noise on car correctly first time using it which saved time and money. Highly recommend.Only complaint is it came without any instructions whatsoever and package looked opened / returned.

Had a noise coming from the car. From doing some reading online I figured itâs the AC compressor clutch pulley bearing. I bought this stethoscope to make sure before buying a clutch kit. I used it today and put the probe against the alternator which didnât make much noise, the power steering pump which makes a really weird noise through the stethoscope, and finally I touched it to the back side of the compressor and could hear the noise Iâve been hearing for 3 years off and on clear as day. I just ordered the clutch kit and will have it installed aswell as the tensioner pulley, idler pulley, and serpentine belt checked.

Definitely helps diagnosing bad bearings in pulleys. Havenât needed to use the attachment for air leaks as my hearing is still good, may need to use that in the future. Good quality product

Good length to get into tight spots. Helpful when trying to track engine noises
