An Essential
Nearly four years after purchasing this book for school… I still use it on a weekly basis as a full time RN. This is not only a great book to have for school, but I believe all nurses should at least have a reference to this book somewhere. The explanations are clear and concise and the information is easy to lookup. It gives you reasons that certain labs may or may not be correct. It’s not overly large and fits perfect in my locker at work. WELL WORTH THE MONEY. All healthcare workers should have this book in their library.

Excellent source of information about medical test procedures.
This is the best source of information about lab tests and lab test results I have found. A description of each test is given with its related physiology, procedure, and factors that may effect the test results. Most importantly the normal range for each test is given, broken down by sex and age in many cases. This is often much better than the medical laboratory provided ranges. A list of possible causes of abnormal findings is provided but no detail is provided. Imaging studies are also covered with a description of each process. There is a good description of the lumbar puncture (spinal tap) that outlines the various procedures, normal results, reasons to not take the test, possible complications, and after effects. Endoscopies, throat cultures nuclear studies among others are also included. However, one should have a basic knowledge of anatomy and biology to get the most from this book.

GREAT lab manual book!
I am a nurse practitioner student and I bought this book to compliment my textbooks. This book is pretty interesting and breaks the material down into a format that is easy to understand. I have used other lab manual books that were not interesting to read at all! This book is much better in my opinion. The book is small enough that it can easily fit into a bag, but not so small that the print is impossible to read. The cover is paperback, but very durable. I would recommend this product!

Good reference
This book has been very helpful for my nursing school care planning. Definitely a recommended resource. However, the table of contents on the Kindle version doesn’t seem to list all the contents. For example, it lists lab/diagnostic tests in the “P” chapter alphabetically from “PA” to “PL”, so when looking for “Protein”, you can’t use the table of contents to jump directly to it. It’s there, but you have to use the search function or go to the location of the last test listed in the table of contents and then scroll down/page down until you get to the tests that come after “PL” alphabetically (ie, potassium, prolactin levels, prostate specific antigen, etc).Hopefully that’s a clear explanation for anyone who is going to purchase the Kindle edition. Cheers.

Invaluable for Newbie Practitioners
Extremely comprehensive book covers every type of lab and diagnostic test out there- from the rare to the most common. This is a must-have book for any newbie clinician to have. It breaks things down into normal ranges, high and low and what those values mean, patient education, recommendations, etc. Very comprehensive!

LOVE IT
I have another lab book that was required for my nursing program, but it was a hard read and just not organized well. So I saw this at a book store and purchased it on Amazon for less. This one is easy read and better orgranzied. Arrived on time and packaged nicely!

hard copy is better
I give the hard copy a 5 star, it is a useful tool to have at work. I give the kindle copy a 3 star, because even though the content is the same, it is difficult to look up the information that I am searching for. I liked the Content Outline in the beginning of book, it helped a little.

Very useful as a nursing student. Good to have the newest addition. Small and handy. Decent for value. I like that it is alphabetized.
