Great little skillet!
Got this to go with the Quick 2 cooking set, and now feel like our backpacking kitchen is complete. The cooking set nests nicely into the skillet, and the skillet is small and light enough that it doesn’t take up excess space or weight. Despite the light weight, it’s sturdy enough to do the job. We put it’s non-stick capabilities to the test with our powdered eggs, and nothing stuck. The skillet was easy to clean. The deep sides mean it can almost double as a pot for simmering stews and things like that. The detachable handle is easy to use. It’s not huge, so things like pancakes need to be done in batches, and cooking for more than two people would be difficult, but any bigger and it would be a pain to pack. For two people, this is a perfect little frying pan, and a great addition to the Quick 2 set.

Nice, light weight and steady handle
I got this pan to go with the MSR Quick 2 cookset. It snuggles right on the bottom of the stack. Its nonstick surface is good. Washes easy and I use plastic scrubbie covered sponge with no problems. The cookset only comes with one handle so this second one is helpful for the second pot if I do not need to use the pan. Handle is steady when the pan is loaded. The whole set is very lightweight. I think it will hold up nicely.

Light, very packable, but delicate
I had been getting bored with the usual prepackaged backpacking meals and it seemed the best way to take the next step was to expand my cookware. After looking up the various pans available, I settled on the MSR Quick Skillet. First use was on a 4 day backpacking trip in the Adirondacks for cooking eggs and hash browns for 2 persons, both of which came out great! This is a small, very light and very packable pan. Made of thin gauged aluminum, it transfers heat quickly–so always use low/med heat to avoid burning food–and always use a little cooking oil to maximize the non-stick properties. The pan handle is very sturdy and conveniently folds or detaches as needed; I find it more stable and predictable than the usual wrap around folding handles or pan clamps. The cooking surface, like most non-stick surfaces, seems delicate and may scratch easily. I used a plastic spatula yet still noticed a few hair-line scratches by day 3. In the skillet I nested other-branded, collapsable silicon bowls and suspect a few grains of sand/dirt got between these surfaces which rubbed during transport. These scratches were very tiny and seem of little consequence but this illustrates a need for somewhat extra care in the field. I did this by placing a layer of coffee filters between the pan surface and other nesting kitchenware. Yes, I should’ve done that from the start. Perhaps I will cut out a round piece of quick drying pack towel for that purpose in the future. So the question of durability remains open but I am very pleased with the size, weight and overall performance of the skillet. I’m a bit of a gram shaver but this will definitely allow me to expand my backcountry menu.

Great pan & light wieght but could use slight design change
It a great pan and at 6 inches it is only 2.2 ounces heavier that the tiny one in most pack kits.I can cook a whole trout (cut in half: half for me and half for the bear eyeing me from across the fire – she won’t take no for an answer).I would suggest one design change – have the handle fold under the pan. That way you can pack it with your other cookware items like a pot (with a pad or paper to protect the Teflon). I use this a substitute pan for the tiny one wiht my otherwise awesome Mallo Me set, but I can not set them into this pan in the pack with the handle in the way. So yup — the handle folding underneath would be awesome. The bear just grunted in agreement. Or he wants more fish.

Good camping skillet
Really nice little camping skillet. Heats food evenly. Cleans easily and packs light. MSR is a trusted brand. Happy with purchase. FYI – Bought this because the JetBoil was unavailable and now glad that it was.

Great light weight non-stick pan
Lightweight & nonstick. Perfect for a small skillet. I prefer removable handles over handles that fold around the sides. I took some fondue in the RV recently and warmed it in this pan with a silicone spatula. Clean up was effortless. We have to soak and scrub our fondue pot after use.9/18/2018 UpdatePurchased another one of these for my camping kit. Tried a different mess set but it didn’t compare to the MSR. My eggs stuck to the pan with spray oil. On a side note, the MSR that’s in the RV is still working great. There is one small scratch on it and my husband swears he didn’t scratch it. I only use plastic ware when RVing/camping so hope that one of those did not create the scratch. I’ll be more careful with this new pan. These pots & pans are definitely worth using silicone utensils with to maintain the integrity of the non-stick coating. Food literally slides right off of them if they are well maintained.

Great for the outdoors, no longer will you have to carry a skillet meant for your home.
Love cooking on this little skillet, it’s durable, lightweight and easy to use. Short day trips or over night camping, it works great, and storage isn’t a problem. Compact enough to be carried in your backpack or hooked on to a carabiner, however you decide to transport this it doesn’t burden the carrier. Might pick up another one when cooking multiple meals.

Bought this as I was looking for a skillet. Quality is top notch of course. Weâll made and designed. It is smaller than you think but I was ok with it as I was just thinking of cooking for one. You wonât be able to fit 2 burgers or chicken breasts in it but shouldnât have issues if cooking for 1. Deeper than I thought which makes it better for stews or cooking multiple ingredients at once without having to worry about everything spilling out. Pros: again great quality, easy to clean, easy to carry, handle doesnât get hot and weâll balanced. Cons: size. Be nice if just an inch bigger. Would buy again unless cooking for more than 1.

The reviews and reputation are true. I went with a titanium pan that was just a nightmare to cook with, sticking food, impossible to clean at camp, burning stuff. Not with this, works just like a pan at home, easy to clean too.If you season the pan by cooking some rapeseed oil at a high temp it will help keep the coating intact. It is thin, so treat it with care, no metal on metal etc. I always detatch the handle to prevent rubbing when in my bag.

Perfekt. Klein. Leicht. Aufsteckbarer Griff. Trotzdem dieser zum Teil aus Plastik besteht, kein verziehen oder passungenauigkeit. Gut zu verstauen. Antihaftbeschichtung ist super. Zwei entrecote s ohne fett Zusatz super geworden. Leicht zu reinigen. Passt super zu Basic msr topfset. Nach Jahren der alutöpfe eine Offenbarung. Klare Kaufempfehlung.
