Is it water resistant? Hell, it’s almost waterproof!
Great little unit which has been perfect for expanding my power capabilities on my grillzebo.I have a fairly large gazebo unit set up on my deck that’s specifically made for housing several grills, smokers, etc , hence the Grillzebo name I gave it. Anyway, it comes with a water resistant power strip which is covered with a plexiglass panel, with a bottom opening to feed electrical cables through. Great design for a gazebo, except due to the close spacing of the outlets, no good for devices that use a wall wart to plug in, as it reduces 6 outlets down to 3. With two different light runs, a security camera, a fan, and an Echo dot, I needed more outlets, and I needed them to be water resistant.I found this nice looking and compact unit made by APS, checked the dimensions, and determined it would fit perfectly mounted directly below the OEM electrical panel. Since then, it has been pounded by torrential downpours here along the Gulf Coast, and has never hiccupped, let alone failed. It definitely lives up to its claimed IPX6 certification, and then some! There may be some units available for a lower price, but after having this unit for almost 6 months now, I’m very satisfied, and thinks it’s a great deal at 25 bucks. To top it off, it comes with 3 USB ports for charging phones or powering other USB devices!

Good so far.
I use this outside. There has been no rain yet but the outlet works well. I have had three things plugged into it at one time and used both usb ports. They all work. It is hard to push the plugs into the outlet. Probably so that the fit is snug for watery days. I think it will be just fine in the rain.

UPDATE *** Excellent customer service! Company reached out to me and sent me a new product. Company saw my review of the not so good experience I had with their product, reached out to me to send me a new device! Great job!I have only been using one of the outlets on the device, come to find out, the others do not work. You have to wiggle the plug around and maybe it will work. This product had good reviews, I must have received a bad unit. Too late to return⦠waste of money.

Has carried slots for USB. I have it on a covered patio. Never in open moisture. Works great. Nice to have one place for all items. A lamp, string of lights on a timer, music speaker, usb charging,Cord is long enough, and easily coil up excess.

I had to convince my husband….
I had to convince my husband this outlet was a good idea and could stand up to the elements. He thought it wouldn’t work or be practical, but it turned out it suited what we needed. In this world of having multiple decorations, types of lights, old ones, new ones, LED, incandescent, and who knows what else, this outlet let us use them all. It was so popular with my hubby, we had to buy another one.

Impossible to mount
I bought 2 of these. Pulled one out of the box. No mounting screws which I thought was a little odd, but not a big deal. There is a mounting template on the back of the box which you have to cut out, so I did – thus destroying the box. I then went and grabbed my bin of loose screws to find a couple that would work. I grabbed a screw that looked like it would work with a nice, flat head. I inserted the screw into the large opening and then tried sliding it down into the narrow “notch” but it wouldn’t go. Hmm. I kept testing smaller and smaller screws, but none would slide down into the notch. I then flashed my flashlight into the opening and found out that the sides of the smaller opening that you are supposed to slide the screw head down into in order to secure the surge protector when mounting are completely solid. This obviously means that no screw will slide down into the narrow opening unless it’s narrower than the narrow opening – which kind of defeats the purpose. I’m perplexed on why there would be holes that only LOOK like mounting holes and a mounting template on the box when you can’t actually mount this on anything. I guess it does explain the lack of mounting screws… Now I have to return, and the box is destroyed for one due to the mounting template.Don’t buy this if you need to mount it on anything.

I ordered this as a central hub for my outdoor spotlights. The first time it rained, the rain leaked into it and caused a short circuit. I then tried covering it with a plastic pot, and it rained again and caused another short. Very disappointed. Not sure what to do now.
