   Entry-Level Ice Fishing Rod/Reel/Jigs
   The focus of my review will be on the rod and reel combo. This little ice fishing kit impresses me as a very basic, entry-level rod and reel combo. The little rod seems to have pretty good action for such a basic rod, but the reel is most definitely not the smoothest I have ever felt. This rod and reel are actually what I would consider very suitable to enter the sport of ice fishing and give it a try. I have little doubt that it will work just fine for long enough to learn about the sport and whether you’ll want to get involved in this sort of fishing. I honestly think if approached from that perspective, then this is genuinely a good value for the money. I am not sure that I would trust the line that came with it. I would probably string this with a known brand of line specifically for ice fishing. The kity does pack away into a very small package and seems durable enough to survive several seasons. I doubt a seasoned ice fisherman would find this to be what they would use, but for a newbie or a youngster, it is a decent package.

   Good beginner set
   This fishing kit consists of a short rod with a spinning reel, a spool of 9 pound line and some simple lures with a decent plastic box to hold them. I ordered this to carry in my jeep as I travel. I’m frequently at locations with small creeks or streams and then set up seemed like a good set up to carry. A youngster really will only need some hooks, sinkers and they can go fish. This kit is a good value starter set. For me the 9 pound line is too heavy for the light type of fishing I will do. So I loaded this with some 4 pound line and practiced casting in the back yard. It casts okay, but since it’s really an ice fishing rod and very short it isn’t the same as using a 5 or 6′ rod for casting.

   For what it is? Yeah, do it. You get an entire fishing kit in a backpack setup, all you’re missing is the auger. Have a nice day where you have thick ice and warmer weather? Toss on warm clothes, drill your hole and set it up sit down and fish on.The stool is good for 200lb+, the ice spikes for your feet are great, the tackle box is reasonably okay, worth tinkering with. The rod is good, I like how it packs and the strength options you get. Yeah, do it!

    I had high hopes for this ice fishing kit, but I’m extremely disappointed. While the reel seems decent, the rod is made of cheap, flimsy plastic that feels like it could snap at any moment. The included stool is tiny and looks like it wouldn’t hold up to regular use—it feels like it might break just sitting on it.I didn’t even bother opening the lures, so I can’t comment on them, but judging by the quality of everything else, I wouldn’t trust them to perform.Save yourself the frustration and avoid this kit. If you’re serious about having a good day of ice fishing, this gear will likely ruin it. Spend your money on something more reliable.
