Gorgeous, great coffee, a bit quirky, LOVE my SMEG!!
Let me just tell you, I LOVE the SMEG. Yes itâs expensive, yes itâs a bit fussy, but as an avid coffee fan, I love it because it makes the best and hottest cup of drip coffee Iâve ever had at home.I can use the exact same kind of ground coffee in 3 different drip machines and the taste out of the SMEG is by far superior. It takes awhile to brew a pot (8-10 min) but it is worth the wait!!Pros: superior flavor/quality of brew, gorgeous on my counter. These two pros far outweigh the consCons:-not intuitive to operate, read the manual! Some commands (like setting auto brew) require hitting two buttons at once-Wants me to run a lengthy water descaling cycle every couple weeksâIâve started to ignore this but I have to look at a red flashing light…-handle on pot does not feel very solid. Iâm worried it could break off with a heavy pot of coffee…-keep warm plate only stays on an hour. I need at least two hours, so I end up powering off and back on to reset the timer. Not a deal breaker but annoying. And despite the cons, I love my SMEG and would recommend it. Hopefully they can address a few of these items in a subsequent model. Buy it and enjoy!

Gorgeous and talented!
I love this coffee maker. It makes me happy every time I walk into the kitchen and see it. Itâs easy to use, makes great coffee and programmable. The carafe does not drip when pouring and you can get all of the liquid out of it easily.I wanted this a couple years ago but read some negative reviews and with a Braun, it had a touch screen was about the same price and SUCKED! The touch screen never worked properly and finally stopped altogether recently despite excellent reviews.Someone mentioned this doesnât have brew pause, that is incorrect. It does, itâs automatic just pull the pot out and drip stops. And beat if all- actual buttons no stupid touch screen. If youâve been dreaming of this beauty, I say go for it you wonât be sorry!

Very cool coffee maker
Smeg has got to take the prize for design if you like that art deco style but more importantly it brews good coffee and keeps it piping hot for an hour but then shuts off for safety. I had a different brand that brewed good coffee but didn’t keep it hot at all and was very disappointing. Plus the old on had no style at all so didn’t look good enough to just leave out on the counter. This Smeg looks so good it becomes a conversation piece. Don’t be shy about the color you choose. They are all interesting and will brighten you kitchen and your life!

A Pretty Piece of Garbage you will Regret
Gorgeous appliance to look at, but a complete piece of junk for SO much money.1. The lid doesn’t open wide enough to pour all the water in from the pot.2. When anyone pours the coffee, it just spills, splashes, and dribbles everywhere. It’s strange that in 2024 an expensive coffee maker would have such a poorly designed pot that can’t pour liquid without spilling all over. How many thousands of years ago was this feature designed on pots?3. The plastic handle of the pot isn’t strong enough for a full pot of coffee and cracked, and had to be replaced a year after I bought it.4. The mesh filter is poorly designed and came apart at the seams. I replaced it with a cheap, too small filter because Smeg parts are so hard to find.5. The mechanism on the plastic basket under the filter has now broken so the hot water just pours straight through. The only place I could find a replacement was on Ebay.6. I paid for Asurion product protection. Each time, they want me to send the ENTIRE coffee maker in for repairs. I just needed the replacement parts, but they insist they must “test” the whole machine which means sending away my whole coffee maker for an undetermined amount of weeks or months.7. Since I didn’t want to bother with sending the entire machine in and having no coffee maker, I have now spent $30 for the protection plan, $40 for a new pot, $12 for a mesh filter that’s too small, and another $30 for a plastic cup that fits under the filter. Waiting for the next part to fail to add to my $200 coffee maker plus $112 in replacement parts.8. It looks pretty on my counter.

Love my Smeg
I’ve read the reviews and after a year, I finally purchased it. Let me say. For all the reviews that mentioned that it’s hard filling the water reserve using the coffee pot and that it’s not hot enough to drink. This is what I have to say in the matter. YES, you will need to use another container to fill the water and it’s no BIG deal. I use a measuring cup and it works great, no spills and it pours right in. The temp of the coffee was perfect for me. But I do not like to drink scalding water. If you want your coffee hotter, you can use a microwave and PRESTO hotter coffee. The 60 mins time limit for the warmer tray is a bit of a bummer (I do like the two hours), but it’s not a deal breaker. Again microwave for a few seconds and we once again have hotter than hot coffee. The Smeg is easy to program and it looks great. Kinda reminds me of a Dalek. I got pink (and it was hard to choose a color because I liked them all), and it looks striking next to my turquoise Keurig.

Looks good, but does have some flaws
First of all this coffee maker looks great. I enjoy its style and it does brew coffee well. However, as with other reviews, the water canister is hard to fill due to not having enough room from the lid to pour with the coffee canister itself. also, there is a port inside the water canister, which I believe allows the air to exit from the level meter. If you fill the canister up to that point, water will leak out of the bottom all over your counter when brewing. And, lastly, like other reviews, the heating element does not stay on long enough. An hour or less. You basically just have to turn the coffee pot on again to get another hour or so time. Not a big deal, but still inconvenient.

Attractive coffee pot.
Our daughter had this coffee maker. I liked the look of it. Wanted a different looking part. I ordered the cream coffee maker, and makes great coffee.

This is a great coffee machine! The build quality is excellent and it is easy to use. It has a really nice retro yet modern look to it. It looks better in person then in pictures. Also very easy to clean and makes really good coffee.
