The BATCLIP elegantly holds a stethoscope in a tight package securely against a waistband or on a belt. First sewn in a Louisiana leather shop in 1995, this holster has gone through over a dozen design improvements and is still used daily by the inventor (an emergency physician) himself. The best way to use the BATCLIP is to put it on your left hip with the metal clip attached to a belt (to prevent the metal from pressing on bare skin) directly along the midaxillary line. This results in the BATCLIP being out of the way when you are sitting, walking, running, or boarding an ambulance or helicopter. Too far forward and it gets in the way of things like a pants pocket, grasping hand, or doorknob. Too far back and it impedes comfortable seating. Thus, midaxillary line is usually best. (The exception is occasionally found in women with wide hips, where a longer pelvic brim make midaxillary placement awkward.) Placement on the left hip ensures that the opening flap is facing backward, so it cannot get caught on anything that may inadvertently pull it open. To rapidly unholster a stethoscope placed in the BATCLIP, use your right hand to reach across your midriff, grasp, and pull open the leather wing. At the same time, hold the stethoscope with your left hand just above the BATCLIP. When the wing opens, pull the stethoscope up and out of the holster with your left hand, and then reclose the wing with your right. The wings of the BATCLIP are eccentric allowing the holster to accommodate narrower and wider stethoscope heads. It works best with traditional stethoscopes that have a bell and diaphragm, since the indentation between the bell and diaphragm allow the earpieces to be wrapped around the bell prior to inserting the stethoscope into the holster. However, it does work with single diaphragm and electronic scopes as stated in the reviews.

DISTINCTIVE, PROFESSIONAL, TOP-OF-THE-LINE QUALITY. Individually made in Maine from hand-picked cow hides, the BATCLIP holster provides an elegant carrying solution that matches the value that physicians (and all healthcare workers) place in their stethoscopes. Unlike the newer plastic hip clips, the BATCLIP simply feels better in the hand. Its lineage includes the venerable leather doctor’s bag. Both improve with age are built for a lifetime of proud distinguished use.
DESIGNED BY AN EMERGENCY PHYSICIAN seeking a solution to repeated misplacement and loss of his own stethoscopes. His criteria for an ideal stethoscope carrying solution included extreme portability; durability against water, weather, and age; a fail-safe scope-securing mechanism; quick scope access; and simple scope re-holstering.
>20 YEARS OF TESTING. The original prototype, from 1995, has undergone over a dozen substantive improvements based on the inventor’s use in his hospital, EMS, and rural developing world medical practices. Upgrades have included changes in materials (ballistic nylon to leather), fasteners (plastic to metal clips), shape (short to long wings), and even thread types. The fundamental driving force has always been to create the best stethoscope carrying solution for real-world medical practice.
MANY STETHOSCOPE VARIANTS, ONE BATCLIP. Based on feedback from doctors, nurses, paramedics, veterinarians, and medical students, the BATCLIP is designed to accommodate many variations in scope design. Originally sized to work with the Littman Classic, the holder was redesigned in 2012 to work with scopes having a variety of head sizes. The BATCLIP now fits most types of adult and pediatric stethoscopes, including the single-head Cardiology and electronic or amplified stethoscopes.
NO HASSLE WARRANTY. We’re proud of our products. (Our other one, the BATCLIP SHEARS, includes titanium trauma scissors.) Unlike the makers of once-use disposable medical goods, we make BATCLIPs to last for a lifetime. Made with love and care in a small multi-generation family-owned leather shop, the BATCLIP works better, lasts longer, and has achieved a superior reputation because of its success in actual use. Thus, if anything ever goes wrong with your BATCLIP, we will repair or replace it.

Great tool for Paramedics, RN’s, EMT’s, etc. Holds stethoscope solidly during movement.
I’m a medic, and after spending years dealing with the crappy plastic belt-clip stethoscope holders, which resulted in one lost scope just getting out of the rig, and many, MANY cases of my scope falling out when sitting down, standing up, or moving around I finally gave up and started stuffing my scope in a pants pocket. Not ideal – it’s a pain to get out, and even worse to get back in, but much safer on an ambulance than keeping it around my neck for someone to choke me with. So, when I saw a flight medic wearing one of Dr Li’s Batclips’ I was intrigued. When I saw he was able to move freely with it without the scope falling out, I was interested enough to buy one. I just received it today, and I’m impressed. My scope (a conventional diaphragm & bell model) fits easily in the clip and stays there securely. The velcro is strong and does not seem at all prone to releasing itself, so having my scope slide out while I’m moving around is no longer a major concern. The ‘easy’ way to insert the scope does leave a loop hanging down, which could be a concern in some environments, like a passenger seat, however I was able to secure my scope equally well with a second loop inside the wings (basically the same way I made it fit into my 5.11 pocket) where there was no dangling loop to catch on anything. This would make it very slightly slower to re-secure (having to wrap the scope before clipping), but if you’re worried about it catching it will eliminate the loop. I’ll post a photo of my method shortly. Overall, the Batclip seems to be an incredibly well built, solid stethoscope clip that does exactly what it’s designed to — holds your scope in place regardless of what you’re doing. In that sense it might be a one-trick pony, but if you’re an Paramedic, EMT, RN, or ER Doc, that’s one trick that you, your neck, and your pockets will really appreciate!Update after about a month of solid use: Works great. The clip on the back is solid metal, well made, and holds well to your belt. The wings secure solidly and I have had no problems with the scope sliding or coming out. The only potential issue is that the Batclip can slide on your belt if you wear an especially thin belt. It’s made to fit about a 2″ belt and will stay in place quite solidly on that. If you wear a 1.25″ belt it may be prone to sliding, depending on where you position it. If so it’s not a terribly difficult fix, either adjusting how to clip it on, wearing a slightly thicker belt, or clipping it to both your belt and pants will all stop the sliding. Overall it’s held up excellently during a month of solid 911 shifts.

Amazing
I am a physician, and I am very prone to headaches. I hate wearing anything around my neck as even a tiny weight can give me nasty tension headaches. I can’t stand to wear a white coat or even a stethoscope around my neck. For a couple of years I tried to suck it up, then carried my stethoscope in my hand or over one shoulder – all terrible options. I tried the cheap hip holster I’d gotten for free somewhere, but the hard plastic shape is impossible to actually clip on your waistband and it’s surprisingly tricky to get your stethoscope in and out of those things.Enter the Batclip.I found out about them when a colleague of mine strutted into work one day with one on his hip. It looked professional, functional, and comfortable, and I was sold immediately. I bought one that day and loved it just as much as I thought I would – it’s easy to use, the clip works well on scrubs or slacks with or without a belt, it looks good, and it is entirely reliable – all of that a must for a busy day in medicine! It held up well under heavy use (seeing 20-60 pts per day, 3-6 days per week in various settings) for about five years, but gradually the velcro just wore completely out. I don’t fault the manufacturer for that since velcro will always wear out eventually. I contemplated buying more heavy duty velcro and trying to fix it since the leather and clip were still in good condition, but laziness won out and I recently bought my second one. I love it just as much as the first. The only thing I wonder about is if a snap might make the product even more durable. All in all, though, I love these and plan to have one forever. Thanks for a great product!

Worth EVERY Penny!
I am utterly thrilled with the quality of this product! This productâs description from the seller is as accurate as Iâve ever seen. When I first donned my first stethoscope around my neck back in nursing school I was so proud – I mean, I looked just like a ârealâ nurse. Fast forward a few years as a busy nurse on a chronically under-staffed Ortho-Neuro unit, and I found that I didnât care what a ârealâ nurse looked like because I found my stethoscope to be consistently finding its way to the floor as I would take off sprinting toward a bed alarm. In addition, there are several other opportunities we find for bending and stopping while performing our tasks. Too many times I found my stethoscope hanging in my way or annoying me in some other fashion.Eventually, I decided to give a belt clip a shot, and I am very glad I did. I absolutely prefer carrying my stethoscope on my belt. I wear it on my left, lateral hip and I store it just the way the companyâs video suggests. I very, very infrequently ever get the âloopâ caught on anything. In general, I feel much less annoyed with my stethoscope. In fact, I prefer the belt carry so much that Iâve started carrying several of my âtoolsâ on a tactical belt, thus freeing up that ever-valuable pocket space.Anyhow, after just a little research I was sold. The Batclip really had me with its apparent long-standing reputation for quality craftsmanship and material selection, evolution of product, and unbeatable customer service. Of note, Iâll ALWAYS buy American made when available, so that was another obvious selling point in the Batclipâs favor. But the nail in the coffin was when I began to read customer reviews and found that the physician who created/designed the Batclip is actively responding to customers online to this day through Amazon and ensuring they are properly cared for. I think thatâs the ABSOLUTE GOLD STANDARD of customer service! I was floored! I didnât even put in my cart, I just hit the âbuy nowâ option. Iâm glad I did!

Was a bit reluctant in getting this as it is not cheap but if you use an expensive stethoscope then its worth it. Accessible and safe, haven’t done a days work without this attached to my belt since (paramedic).
