May be better for longer hair but does work and is comfortable to wear
It definitely takes a bit of practice to figure out how it can work best for you hair. Especially since you have to wait so long to see the final results, this can be annoying. I would recommend watching YouTube videos to help with different ways to use it. It is pretty comfortable, although sleeping in it can be tricky to make sure it doesn’t just all fall apart. Would probably work best for longer hair types. My hair is a medium length right now so I’m hoping as it grows it will get easier to use.

Cute, but has functional flaws
I received this for free through Vine.I like experimenting with different hair tools and have tried several heatless methods. I’ve tried three other products of this type, which all follow the viral “robe curls” method. This is my least favorite of the four. The best thing about this set is the graphic design: the black on hot pink leopard print is absolutely adorable. I prefer to wrap in the morning instead of sleeping on this type of curler, and if you secure the ends behind your head instead of letting them hang, they look like a puffy headband. This made a nice late 80s / early 90s look.Other than the aesthetics, though I can’t really recommend this. It has two big flaws:1) The fabric does not fit tightly over the foam rod. This makes it harder to wrap your hair, which is already tricky on smooth fabrics like this. I do prefer smooth fabric, since it’s less likely to cause frizz or breakage, but why add more difficulty with loose fabric?2) The foam is permanently(?) distorted where it was bent to fit in the box. At those points, the rod is squished and flattened, instead of providing a round shape to curl your hair around. One of the bends is where the rod would go on the crown of your head, which isn’t a big deal, but the other two bends are right next to your face, where the distorted curl would be visible. You might be able to get around that by placing your wraps carefully, but why bother? Just get a better quality product.(And just be aware that robe curls work best on longer hair, at least a couple of inches below the shoulder, and that the back does not come out as curly as the front. Try the Octocurl style instead of this single ribbon style if that’s important to you.)

Fun to use!
I know this concept is not new, but I still appreciate that there is a way to curl hair with no damage from rough treatment and heat. The pink leopard packaging is cute, and appropriate since most younger gals seem to be wearing their hair long these days.Since my hair is too short for this system, I tried it out on my patient granddaughter. Actually, she succumbed to the pressure of “looking gorgeous” a few times for the sake of experimentation. And we did have fun. To start, your guinea pig, er, model I mean, must have clean, damp hair. Then you lay the thingamajig across the top of the head and start wrapping. There are some handy diagrams on the back of the box. The coolest discovery we made was that according to how you wrap the hair, the after effect can look very different. The first time out, I wrapped the hair in small sections, very tight and close together in a steep diagonal. Wow. Granddaughter is camera shy, but it looked wild and fantastic. I was only allowed 2 more tries, so I varied the wraps as much as possible, and her final looks were pretty different each time.I think this wrap is best used at night while sleeping. It says that 3-6 hours should suffice, but I figured some extra time wouldn’t hurt. My “client” also worn a silk bonnet over it so that pillow friction wouldn’t muss the curls up, and we achieved some very smooth and shiny locks. This simple little curling system works wonders, and it is a lot of fun to experiment with wrapping techniques. Definitely recommend.
