Easy to test and seems accurate given the circumstances – confirmed accurate results 5 weeks post op.
I had my vasectomy about 2 and a half weeks ago. I was told to come back in 2 months for my follow up to make sure that it was effective. 2 months is a long time to wait wondering if the operation was a success, especially considering some doctors want a follow up as soon as 15 “events” or 30 days, so I decided to order this and do my own check up at home after surpassing that benchmark that other doctors recommend. I’m sure there are other men in my situation, anxious to get control of their own birth control method and not have to solely rely on other means that sometimes fail. This product is a great idea for people wanting the peace of mind or for those that have had the procedure in the past and want to make sure everything is still in (non)working order. To give you all the details, my doc pulled out all the stops. My procedure was a traditional scalpel method, performed using all 3 of the most effective methods proven to reduce chances of failure: removal of a 1cm section from each vas, fascial interposition, and cauterization of all tissue at each terminal. That’s too much information, but I’m putting it out there to say that by all accounts, all flow in my vas should be stopped by now, and any re-connection of tissue should be highly unlikely. So by that reasoning, the test should show that I’m infertile by now, so long as the “pipes have been adequately flushed.”Onto the testing experience: I did the first test (the box contains enough supplies for two tests) today. It was fairly straight forward: put your “product” in a cup, let sit for 20 mins, use included syringe to put the sample in a solution, gently mix for 2 minutes, then put 5 drops of the solution on the tester and read the results in 7 minutes. It’s very easy to read as it’s similar to a pregnancy test. If you’re still very fertile it’ll display two lines; if the operation worked it’ll only show one line. If you’re still slightly fertile (low count), one line will be faint, but still visible. Depending on your method and recency of the procedure, it’s not uncommon to get a faint line. Don’t panic, continue flushing those pipes and test again in a week or two. I followed the instructions very carefully and my results declared my operation a grand success, as I only had one line displayed without even the faintest hint of a second line. So it SEEMS to be accurate.I’m going to do a follow up, frankly because all the reviews are kind of lacking any of the critical info that men are going to be concerned about. Several reviewers just say “well if it didn’t work I’ll update here when my wife gets pregnant again lol.” Yikes. I want to know if it’s reliable, pal, preferably without having to wait on you to update your review several months down the road…. if you even remember to at all. So, in a week (01 Jun) I’ll do the second test, as instructed and I’ll edit this review with the results, just to confirm consistency of test results. Ultimately, when I get the actual urologist follow up, I’ll update with those results as well. That official follow up is scheduled for 07 July (edit: the appt got pushed back to the 10th), so look forward to that update, as that will be the end all confirmation of this test’s accuracy. So for now, sorry guys, all I’ve got for you is the same as every other review “Easy to test and seems accurate given the circumstances,” but rest assured, as soon as I have real results, I’ll be updating this one again. None of this “If my wife gets pregnant again lol” garbage. Sheesh. For what it’s worth, this test has been clinically proven and is recommended by some physicians for home testing. Provided you follow instructions correctly, by all accounts it’s been confirmed for accuracy. We’ll see.1 June Update. Ok, I couldn’t wait. I tried again just a few days after my first test, and the second test came up positive. I followed the directions exactly, and the results were contradictory. I ordered a new one and asked the company for feedback. The representative said it’s unusual to have conflicting results like this (negative before positive), and reimbursed me for ordering the second test kit. I tried again today, and the results are no different. Another positive. So the only thing I can imagine is that the first test was a dud. Not what I was hoping to see. Since I got a free test kit out of the deal, I’ve still got another one to use. I’ll try again in a few days and update again. Might as well. Stay tuned.10 June update. Today’s test results showed a definite negative. I’m out of tests but I’m inclined to believe the most recent results as it’s been over a month and WELL past the doc recommended 15-20 emissions to clear the pipes. Final update will be the first week of July when I have actual lab results.Final update, 24 July. So I submitted my official lab sample to my urologist on the 10th of July. They called me last week to confirm that my sample was indeed clear and the operation was a grand success. So there you have it. I suppose you can take what you want of it. First test was negative, next two positive, final test negative almost 5 weeks after operation (regardless of my far surpassing the number of events), and the final results’ accuracy confirmed by my urologist. I feel like I can say with confidence that the test is accurate, with the idea that the very first test I took was a dud/false negative, that is. Customers can rest assured, however, that the company will stand by the product and address any conflicting results.Well this has been an enlightening experience, gentlemen. My advice: order it- but don’t expect miraculous results significantly earlier than a doctor suggests. I was impatient and anxious, and all I got in return was a lesson in patience.January 2016 Update: OK. I get it. My review has gotten kind of extreme but I thought I would check back in. Call it the paranoia in me, but I’ve ordered a couple more tests since this initial review, just because I want to make sure the job is done and, from what I’ve read, if a vasectomy fails, it’s gonna happen within the first year. The last test I took actually registered a very very very faint positive. So I contacted the company. The reps were pretty reassuring, saying it might have been user error, as I got distracted and viewed the results about 30 seconds after I was supposed to. Well, I started doing some research, and in the history of this test, I found that it is more likely to register a false positive than register a false negative, according to a clinical study, as it tests for a protein our bodies produce that support sperm, and not actually testing for the presence of sperm itself. Just to be safe, I called my doc. I had been experiencing some pain so I needed to see him anyway. When I explained the deal to him, he insisted on a series of tests to make sure everything was ok, and explained that these tests are rarely inaccurate. I’ve submitted labs 3 times in the last month, and every single one showed “no sperm present.”Summary: False positives are a more realistic result than False negatives.

Pretty straightforward and easy test to take.
I thought the instructions were pretty easy to follow, pictures help, and then having the short quick step guide to follow while administer the test was nice. Do recommend reading the instructions thoroughly! One recommendation, after collecting the sample when you need to stir do so very gently! Any bubbles makes it difficult to capture a proper bubble free sample into the plunger! Results were clear as day for me! 🙂

Worked as advertised
Follow the instructions exactly and it works well. Make sure you have a steady hand and can see up close. If the manufacturer reads these, a suggestion for improvement would be to have a line on the syringe instead of it being frosted. Even in good lighting this was hard to read. Much better value then making an appointment with a Urologist.

Extra peace of mind after 20 months
This kit has well-written instructions, which I read a couple times before beginning the test so I could get it right. It kind of reminded me of taking a COVID test, but with a different sample collection procedure. I had my vasectomy approximately 20 months before using this and previously had a negative (aka good) result from my doctor’s office at 12 weeks, but I wanted to double check since it is getting close to two years and I wanted to be sure nothing went awry (recanalization) during that time period. The sample collection cup provided is a little on the small side for a target as compared to what the doctor’s office used, but with care, it worked OK; just some extra care needed not to miss anything. It is also worth mentioning that you can’t engage in “activities” for 48 hours before taking the test in order to get an accurate result. It is great to be able to confirm that the vasectomy is continuing to work from home–saves a trip and appointment with the doctor’ office for just a double check. I don’t know what I’ll do with the second testing materials in the kit; would give to a friend if I knew one that had a vasectomy and wanted to check. Surprisingly, many of my friends have not taken care of business despite saying they need to. Some other reviews mention that they sometimes see a faint mark that confuses them on the test strip; I did not have that experience, but I was super careful about timing each step per the instructions, so that may have helped.

No More Babies!
My Uncle’s snip failed after 35 years, and he and his wife had their 3rd child at 58 years old. There is absolutely NO WAY I’m falling for that. I started using this the first year after my snip and I will continue to use it religiously twice a year. It’s extremely easy to use and gives you results quickly.

good for peace of mind.
My husband got a vasectomy and has been using this kit to check and make sure he still has no swimmers in there. Itâs great to have for peace of mind. It was accurate for him, as it showed the same results he got from his follow up appt at the urologist. Directions are easy to follow. We highly recommend.

Follow the directions precisely!
I had the snip over a month ago and bought a microscope to analyze my own samples, my fiancé wasnât exactly convinced when I showed her no swimmers. I ordered this kit to ease her mind and the other reviews stated to read directions and follow precisely so I traded the directions three times and had everything including timers ready to go, it worked perfectly. Amazon also delivered the kit in less than 5 hours!
