Really nice casting
The ball bearings make for a smooth cast. Drag isnât quite as good as an expensive reel but for the price, this reel is really good.

Very well made and worth the money… ive used zebco reels for 60 years… and this one seems better than all of them… I’ll be buying a couple more when my grandkids are big enough to take fishing…

Great real for this pricepoint. Usable for fresh and lighter duty saltwater.
It does not fall short. Casting is very good, really had no issues when using it right out of the box for 4 days of fishing. It’s got an easy use push button that works well and provides precise casting. Very much a good starter to below amateur reel that should provide years of use. It should be fine for both youths and adults for most fresh water fishing. I does come spooled with Cajun mono filament line which worked great, but was just a bit shorter than I’d like to see it come with. I could cast much farther if it had more line. For saltwater you will need to respool it with a lot more fishing line.

Canât beat a classic!
I got this reel for my sonâs rod and it has been great. We bought a combo since he is 9 and prefers the button release still. Original reel broke first time out so I replaced with this and he thinks it is the best pole out there.

Great spincast for the money
I currently run this reel on 7.5ft rod and it is great to cast. The only thing to watch for is the Platinum has a higher reel speed than the normal 33. If you reel too fast, the fish will think your bait is on a jetski.

Zebco has made nice reels at decent prices for decades. I sell fishing reels for work and I recommend this reel to people who want a spin cast reel. This is a smooth quality reel at a great price. I bought this as a gift for my mother and she loves it.

Plastic, With Thin Metal, and Lots of Rust = Modern Zebco
My Wife and I wanted to start fishing, so we purchased two Zebco Platinum 33 Spincasters. I mean, Zebco is a name you can trust. Right???NO!Every other cast was a jolt as the “Platinum” 33 grabbed my line somewhere in the spool and yanked my lure in every direction. NO FUN.The reels themselves are constructed to fail. Thin metal (very thin), cheap Plastic parts in key places, and engineered very poorly. We cannot use these reels any longer due to the line ‘grab’ issue on these reels.In other words:”Zebco” is a Name You Can Rust!

Casts a mile
I am not a fan of these types of reels but I needed something better for my kid. Hes ok with a spinning rod but can’t cast the farthest. Hes not quite ready for a baitcaster. Put one of these on a 6’6″ MH fast rod and that kid can cast a mile with this reel. Caught a number of fish and he does really well with it. This isn’t like one of those junk toy reels at all. I am pleasantly surprised.

Bought this for my sons birthday, he used it on one fishing trip to our family cottage and the reel stopped engaging the line to reel it in. What a waste of money.
